Howmet Aerospace Maintenance Electrician in Rancho Cucamonga, California

Howmet has an immediate opening for a Maintenance Electrician in our Rancho Cucamonga Operations. Our passionate commitment to the facility provides the successful candidate with an excellent environment in which to work and the leadership commitment and support to deliver results. This position is a key member of the Facilities team, is a highly visible position that will require traveling to different sites within California.

Howmet Engines is a world-class producer of aero engine and industrial gas turbine components, including airfoils, forged rings, disks and forgings. We excel in vacuum melted superalloys, machining, performance coatings and hot isostatic pressing for high performance parts that enable the next generation of quieter, more fuel-efficient aero engines and cleaner power generation.

Summary: Maintains electrical equipment in good condition; performs a variety of maintenance, repair, and installation duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: This is not intended as a comprehensive list; it is intended to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed, and may be required to perform additional, position-specific tasks.

  • Repairs, installs, replaces, and tests electrical circuits, equipment and appliances using appropriate tools and testing instruments.

  • Inspects and tests electrical lighting, signal, communication, and power circuits.

  • Isolates defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment using testing instruments such as ammeter, ohmmeter, megameter and voltmeter, testing lamp or growler.

  • Installs and monitors performance of installed electrical equipment for hazards, adjustments, or replacement.

  • Oversees or performs complex or difficult maintenance repairs or installations.

  • Dismantles electrical machinery and replaces defective electrical or mechanical parts such as gears, brushes and armatures.

  • Replaces faulty switches, sockets and other simple elements of electrical systems.

  • Mounts motors, transformers and lighting fixtures into position and completes circuits according to diagram specifications, local and national codes.

  • Measures, cuts, threads, and installs electrical conduit.

  • Pulls wiring through conduit.

  • Splices wires.

  • Connects wiring to fixtures and power equipment.

  • Installs grounding leads.

  • Performs other maintenance duties.

  • Provides training to other employees.

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

    Education and/or Experience

    Two-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Language Skills

    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

    Mathematical Skills

    Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and relevant electrical equations (e.g Ohm’s Law). Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

    Reasoning Ability

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or or instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Electrician Certificate

  • Other Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to use electrical measuring instruments

  • 3-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Proficient in the use of lathes, mills, surface grinders, hones, band saws, hand tools and power tools.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics

  • Familiarity with motor control, AC frequency drives and PLC's.

    Qualifications

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

  • 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD; Excel spreadsheets software and Word Processing software. Familiarity with motor control, AC frequency drives and PLC's.

  • Ability to read and interpret facility and machine diagrams, blueprints, schematics, etc.

Pay

$28 - $33/ hour. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
