The Release Train Engineer is a servant leader and coach for the Agile Release Train. The RTE’s major responsibilities are to facilitate the ART events, supporting the PI execution, optimizing flow, coaching the ART and ensure value delivery. The RTE is also responsible for communicating with Product and Solution Management, Product Owners, and other stakeholders to ensure strategy and execution alignment, manage risks, remove/escalate impediments, manage cross-train dependencies and escalate enterprise dependencies. Understands lean/Agile best practices. In addition to promoting execution alignment and visibility, the RTE is a change agent who pushes for process improvements, challenges existing behaviors and has a pulse on the ART via qualitative and quantitative ART KPIs. This role will be the RTE in Digital Commerce with management responsibilities for the Scrum Masters on the ART.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Lead Scrum and/or Kanban teams in PI Planning, Scrum of Scrums, and other Agile Ceremonies of low to moderate complexity.

  2. Responsible for delivering results of projects in terms of predictability of delivery, productivity improvement, schedule and delivery of commitments, and quality.

  3. Responsible for ensuring data maintained in Agile Tools is consistent across ARTs to support enterprise-wide requirements.

  4. Responsible for relevant budgeting and oversight of capital and non-capital expenditure within their ART.

  5. Responsible for ensuring Truist Agile TDLC, Truist Agile Framework and Risk Framework are appropriately followed.

  6. Active participant of the Agile RTE Community of Practice.

  7. Coordinate with other Release Train Engineers for cross ART dependencies and Road Map Reviews.

  8. Work with Scrum masters in a consultant model, helping the teams embrace an agile mindset, leverage Agile and its events, roles, and artifacts to reach greater success.

  9. Make a deep commitment to listening intently to others and strive to understand and empathize

  10. Apply effective Agile Principles and Practices by embracing adaptive coaching to determine when to coach by “the book” and when to customize based on the need at that moment

  11. Create an environment of mutual influence

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:

  1. College degree in a related field of study or equivalent education and related training or experience

  2. Minimum of five years Program Management experience and/or five years of experience as a Scrum Master, including experience with PI Planning and Execution

  3. SAFe Agilist Certification Strong knowledge of and background with Agile concepts

  4. Strong communication and organizational change management experience

  5. Experience in delivery function at large organizations or Fortune 500 companies

  6. SAFe RTE Certified

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. SPC6

  2. RTE on a Solution Train

  3. Experience in the banking or financial services industry

  4. People manager

  5. Comfortable in challenging change management scenarios, knowing when to insert themselves and when to fade back

  6. Experience working with co-located and offshore teams

  7. Facilitating Value stream mapping workshops

  8. Delivered Agile training
