Job Description

Position Overview:

The Senior Accountant [Assets Lead], Global Financial Solutions, is primarily responsible for asset accounting (Lease and Fixed Assets), including collection and review of data, subledger processes, month-end closing and related account reconciliations. The person in this role will partner across the organization with finance, accounting, and facility colleagues to ensure asset transactions are recorded accurately and timely. This role is also expected to supervise the work of others, ensuring SOX compliance and interact with internal and external auditors for scope of remit.

Essential Duties and Job Functions:

  • Conduct periodic reviews with facility and FP&A teams to ensure modification to existing contracts and/or impairment to existing property are duly reflected in financial reports.

  • Partner with Corporate and Technical accounting teams to review contracts, apply GAAP and execute appropriate accounting.

  • Prepare and review periodic financial recording of asset transactions.

  • Perform GL account analysis and account reconciliations for the respective functional areas and resolve reconciliation items on balance sheet accounts in a timely manner.

  • Prepare and review asset accounting roll forward and footnote support for SEC filings.

  • Maintain a control environment in which the processes are consistent with the requirements of Sarbanes-Oxley and company policies.

  • Recommend process improvements and participate in or lead cross-functional initiatives to implement best practices.

  • Interact with internal and external auditors to ensure the quarterly review and audit activities are executed in a timely manner.

  • Work with other financial analysts and serve as team lead to ensure successful accomplishments of individual and team goals and objectives.

  • Support ERP and reporting enhancements as needed.

  • Gain cooperation of others, conducting presentations or providing technical information concerning specific projects.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree and Seven Years Experience OR Bachelor's Degree and Five Years Experience OR Masters Degree and Three Years Experience

  • Must be able to apply accounting knowledge to day-to-day operations and assigned projects

  • Strong technical expertise in area of responsibility

  • Supervisory skills and experience successfully reviewing the work of others

  • Ability to identify trends through analysis of various data

  • Proficiency with Microsoft tools (Excel, Outlook, and Word)

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Able to work in a fast-paced, changing environment, meeting deadlines in an accurate and timely manner

  • Experience in process development and process improvement

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA certification

  • Working experience in Lease or Fixed Asset accounting

  • Working knowledge of SAP (FxRE)

The salary range for this position is: $97,495.00 - $126,170.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
