You find solutions for every customer!Due to our continued growth and customer demand, we are currently recruiting for a qualified, interested, and available Product Development Engineer III Grade 10 in Apex, North Carolina.

How You'll Help Us Connect the World

The focus of the Development Engineer will be on new product development of environmentally sealed plastic telecommunication enclosures managing all technical elements while maintaining performance and schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collect product requirements and transform into concept & design

• Understand the customer needs and competitive products to uncover document needs for New Product Development.

• Create physical models, sample analogs, and prototypes to validate product concepts

• Be able to visualize concepts / designs in 3D

• Prepare, initiate, and conduct engineering design reviews

• Use FMEA’s to mitigate risks and ensure conformance and success of products developed

• Understand material properties and applications for optimum performance and effectiveness.

• Transform innovative concepts and designs into real products

• Keep abreast of existing and new technologies that are applicable to areas of responsibility

• Interpret industry standards and regulatory guidelines on how they impact product requirements

• Identify IP opportunities and initiate filing process

• Be a technical contributor in a R&D product development team, transforming concepts into components from the first idea to the market introduction

• Collaborate in a team-based environment of engineers, CADs, technicians as well as other departments (operations, product management, sales)

• Understand impact of design on costs and schedule

• Communicate technical details to stakeholders

For higher level:

• Act as technical lead in a R&D team to execute a product development project from the first idea to the market introduction with full accountability for the project(s)

• Facilitate team working / support team members (engineers, CADs, technicians) + close collaboration with other departments (operations, product management, sales)

• Control project resources, costs and schedule

• Manage technical objectives

• Represent R&D externally to gather voice of customer to understand product requirements

• Communicate project status and progress to stakeholders

• Interact with other global R&D facilities, Network with universities and other research institutes

Required Qualifications for Consideration:

• BS in Mechanical Engineering and 5 years relevant experience.

• Experience in product development (e.g. mechanical design or molded and sheet metal parts or engineering plastics)

• Experience with:

• Robust Mechanical Eng skills

• 3D CAD using Creo to define geometry

• Plastics and metals processing techniques and design rules

You’ll Excite Us if Have:

• Technical knowledge of products within the business unit (is a plus)

• 6 sigma and LEAN development tools (is a plus)

• Project management methodologies and tools (is a plus)

• Simulation tools (e.g. FEM tools) (is a plus)
