How You'll Help Us Connect the World
The focus of the CAD Engineer will be on new product development of environmentally sealed plastic telecommunication enclosures, supporting R&D staff engineers, evaluating designs, and defining geometry via 3D CAD tools.
Key Responsibilities:
Create physical models, sample analogs, and prototypes to validate product concepts
Be able to visualize concepts / designs in 3D
Creating two and three-dimensional technical drawings
Utilize corp. defined PDM tools to manage design definition (models, and drawings)
Define tolerancing of components to ensure product quality during production
Collaborating with industrial and packaging engineers during design process
Understand material properties and applications for optimum performance and effectiveness.
Transform proposed concepts and designs into real products
Take direction and function in a R&D product development team environment
Collaborate with colleagues, engineers, technicians as well as operations
Understand impact of design on costs and schedule
Communicate work output to stakeholders
For higher level:
Utilize product requirements to generate concepts & design
Prepare, initiate, and conduct engineering design reviews
Use FMEA’s to mitigate risks and ensure conformance and success of products developed
Keep abreast of existing and new technologies that are applicable to areas of responsibility
Interpret industry standards and regulatory guidelines on how they impact product requirements
Identify IP opportunities and initiate filing process
Be a technical contributor in a R&D product development team, transforming concepts into components from the first idea to the market introduction
Manage technical objectives
Communicate project status and progress to stakeholders
Cooperation with team members of other departments
Required Qualifications for Consideration:
BS in Mechanical Engineering or associate degree with 2 plus years’ experience or 5 plus years relevant experience.
Experience in product development (e.g. mechanical design or molded and sheet metal parts or engineering plastics)
Experience with:
3D CAD utilizing Creo to define geometry.
Fundamental Mechanical Eng skills
Plastics and metals processing techniques and design rules
