ProTrain Accounting Clerk - (Part-Time) in Raleigh, North Carolina

Accounting Clerk – Remote Work from Home & Flexible Schedule

POSITION OVERVIEW:

ProTrain College is recruiting for a part-time Accounting Clerk to assist with the following duties:

  • Previous experience working in accounting for a university, community college or for-profit school preferred.

  • Perform accounts payable and receivable duties, including processing invoices, reconciling vendor accounts and assisting with customer collections.

  • The role demands excellent communication and customer service skills.

  • General office duties and special projects as assigned.

  • Knowledge of Title IV, Pell and FAFSA not required but a plus if knowledgeable.

    This is an hourly position with a minimum of 20 hours weekly and potential of 40 hours depending on growth and flow of work.  This position has the opportunity to grow into a full-time position as more responsibilities are required.

    The successful candidate must be detail oriented, understand cost accounting by job, strong Excel skills and the ability to use QuickBooks desktop. 

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 10 years progressive accounting experience

  • Minimum of 5 years experience with Excel

  • Ability to use Microsoft Outlook, Teams and Word

  • Proficient in using QuickBooks desktop

  • Must have experience working in a cloud environment such as Securisync

  • Ability to scan documents in a paperless environment

  • Must be able to work independently, as well as with coworkers

  • Must have reliable home Internet (10MB upload /5MB download minimum)

    MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree in business administration, accounting or closely related field from a regionally or nationally accredited institution of higher learning.

  • Preferred but not required – Bachelor’s degree from a regionally or nationally accredited institution of higher learning.

  • Preferred but not required – College experience in accounting and student financial aid programs.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

    Knowledge:

  • Basic tax forms.

  • FERPA requirements.

  • Basic mathematical and accounting principles.

  • Student financial needs.

    Skills:

  • Demonstrates organizational skills to plan, organize and implement assigned responsibilities.

  • Works effectively in a team environment with a customer service focus.

  • Understanding, interpreting, and applying laws, regulations and procedures concerning educational programs.

    Abilities:

  • Multi-task, organize, prioritize, and follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion with attention to detail is crucial.

  • Work independently in meeting various time deadlines and work pressures with frequent interruptions.

  • Communication, both verbally and in writing, to convey ideas, facts and information effectively and accurately to employees, students, partners, and the general public.

  • Handle student and school confidential information with absolute discretion.

  • Work effectively with a culturally diverse student population, including those with different levels of academic preparation and varying physical and learning abilities along with various socioeconomic levels.
