Merck US Regional Director Medical Affairs - Thoracic Malignancies (Hybrid) in Rahway, New Jersey

Job Description

The Regional Director of Medical Affairs (RDMA) for Thoracic Malignancies holds primary responsibility for the development and execution of regional oncology Medical Affairs strategies and plans for Thoracic Malignancies in the US across indications. The US RDMA for Thoracic Malignancies provides scientific and medical expertise to the US Medical and Commercial organizations and is an impactful member of the cross-functional team in the country. The US RDMA engages with the network of scientific leaders in the country.

Primary activities include, but are not limited to :

  • Develops and executes US Medical Affairs strategy for Thoracic Malignancies

  • Drives creation and facilitation of training materials for the Oncology Medical Affairs team through the appropriate review systems and serves as the medical approver of these materials

  • Designs, updates and gives training both internally and externally in collaboration with the global scientific training and content teams

  • Coordinates, presents at and leads Advisory Boards and other meetings with US Scientific Leaders

  • Engages in scientific exchange with Scientific Leaders to obtain input on disease landscape, current data, and evidence gaps

  • Helps with planning of various aligned activities around major oncology congresses.

  • Supports commercial group for launch preparation and post-launch activities

  • Serves as a member on the Value Evidence sub-team for Thoracic Malignancies internal stakeholders’ expectations with timely updates

  • Interacts with internal stakeholders for needs assessment and planning.

  • Leads strategy and interactions with Patient Advocacy Groups

  • Tracks guidelines and regulatory landscape in the US region

  • Review of Investigator Initiated Studies

  • Collaborates and leads interaction with our external collaboration partners with whom we co-develop oncology products.

Education Minimum Requirement :

  • Advanced degree: MD, PhD or PharmD

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience at a pharmaceutical or biotechnology company in Oncology, -or- 5 years of relevant clinical experience in medical oncology.

  • Proven ability to effectively communicate (written and oral) scientific and business information, both, to a variety of audiences including company management, scientific leaders and lay audiences.

  • Proven track record of translating strategies into tactics that are executed and completed

  • Strong leadership skills and ability to effectively collaborate with and influence partners within and across divisions.

  • Proven ability to collaborate with others and to resolve conflicts.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Experience with Thoracic Malignancies is preferred

U.S. Hybrid Work Model

The Company is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this job in certain states and cities within the United States. Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate’s relevant skills, experience, and education.

Expected US salary range:

$187,000.00 - $294,400.00
