Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

The Senior Mechanical Engineer is the leading technical support for all production areas and serves as the process expert for associates and other support staff. You will provide technical leadership in problem solving, new product introduction, process improvement, and new technology introduction projects. Your efforts will focus on reducing cost, cycle time, and lead time to facilitate achieving operating performance targets. Additionally, you will provide mentorship to less experienced Mechanical Engineers to ensure their professional development and career growth.

Responsibilities

  • Lead continuous improvement efforts focused on process improvements resulting in productivity increases, cost savings, and waste elimination by identifying opportunities and developing, implementing, and sustaining solutions.

  • Champion and support Lean activities such as Standard Work, SMED, 5S, Poke-Yoke, Visual Management, and Variation Reduction in daily operations.

  • Ensure that equipment and work areas are safe and comply with OSHA and EPA regulations and guidelines.

  • Build and lead project teams, provide technical direction to others on the team, and mentor teammates.

  • Identify and anticipate problems before they arise, drive the problems to root cause and implement corrective actions.

  • Lead all phases of capital acquisition projects from generating the request for capital funds through project completion and validation.

  • Prioritize projects and efforts based on potential business impact.

  • Position may require limited travel; less than 5% expected.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related Engineering field.

  • Minimum of 5-8 years of work experience in a manufacturing support environment.

  • Experience in process development, validation, and process improvement.

  • Mechanical design expertise.

  • Experience with manufacturing engineering and new product development.

  • Proficiency in 3D or 2D modeling (Solidworks, Creo, AutoCAD, etc.).

  • Experience in Kaizen, machine design, commissioning, and project management.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred.

  • Process automation or machine design experience (PLCs, LabView, or other automated controls/languages) preferred.

  • Manufacturing project management experience or new product/production cell launch experience preferred.

Work Environment

The work environment includes a manufacturing plant and office setting. This is a 24/5 operation and could involve working more than 40 hours per week. You will be part of a large operation with 600 total employees across four plants on the campus. The team focuses on process automation of existing processes and new product launches. You will advise and create production equipment and design tooling. The culture fosters a team environment, with a strong emphasis on mentorship and professional growth. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $48.07 - $54.33
