Radford University Assistant Professor - School of Social Work in Radford, Virginia
Job Summary:
Radford University (RU) invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work. This is a nine-month tenure-track position beginning in August 2025 (December 2024 start date negotiable). Primary responsibilities will be: teaching courses in the BSW and MSW programs in both the Radford and Roanoke social work program options (includes online and evenings), advising, recruitment, university service, and professional contributions.
The School of Social Work enrolls approximately 280 students in the programs leading to the BSW and MSW degrees. Both programs are fully accredited by CSWE through 2030. The School offers courses in two locations, and online. The School of Social Work is part of the Waldron College of Health & Human Services. Other units within the College include Communication Sciences and Disorders, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Clinical Health Professions, Physician Assistant Studies, and Public Health and Healthcare Leadership.

Required Qualifications:
Required qualifications: a Ph.D. in social work or related field, and an MSW from a CSWE -accredited program. ABD candidates whose degree completion is within nine months of the hire date will be considered but will be hired at the rank of Instructor.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred qualifications include a Ph.D. in social work, evidence of an active scholarly agenda, demonstrated ability to teach across the social work curriculum, have experience with distance education, and at least two years post- MSW social work direct practice experience and who are LCSW -VA eligible.
