INTAKE SPECIALIST

We are excited to invite a passionate and experienced Intake Specialist to join our team! Homes for the Homeless (HFH) is searching for an experienced Intake Specialist for our Families w/ Children facility in the Jamaica area of Queens, NY. As the Intake Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in our organization, providing emergency childcare for families experiencing trauma or sudden hardship. Our ideal candidate is committed to the community, and sensitive to and knowledgeable about issues relating to domestic violence, substance abuse, trauma, and poverty. ABOUT HOMES FOR THE HOMELESS, INC.

Homes for the Homeless operates shelters for families experiencing homelessness in NYC. Our family residences are more than just a place to sleep. Families can make the most of their stay through accessing an array of onsite programs. Many of these programs are also available to people living in the local community. Our goal is to have a positive impact so families can thrive long after they leave our shelters.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Schedule and complete client intakes and family assessments.

  • Provide support guidance and appropriate client advocacy for access to services.

  • Create and monitor family goal plans in conjunction with the director.

  • Complete tracking and reports related to client demographics, service usage, referrals and recidivism.

  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with community agencies and maintain an up-to-date resource manual.

  • Engage in outreach and assist with peer support groups and workshops.

  • Assist with peer support groups and workshops.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of two years working in childcare/child development, human service, or case management experience with a demonstrated record of increasing levels of responsibility.

  • A minimum of a 4-year college degree in a field of study germane to the work (e.g. Child Development, Social Work, Early Childhood Education, or Education)

  • Fluency in Spanish
