Employees will be involved in all aspects of growing trees and shrubs in containers. Trimming, pruning, weeding, watering, maintaining the irrigation systems, staking and applying fertilizers. Blending soil amendments together on an occasional basis is another aspect of this job. Maintaining the landscaping and windbreak shelter belts is another job duty. This consists of pulling weeds, trimming the trees, pruning the shrubs, checking the irrigation drip emitters, setting traps for gophers, etc. Daily maintenance tasks will include trimming, pruning, fertilizing and watering plants and trees. Daily production tasks will include potting of plants and trees from 1 gallon size perennials to 100 gallon size trees. Forklift Operator: The forklift operator, loads and unloads the trucks/trailers that are transporting the plants to the different Ranches or fields; employee is responsible to move the full carts that leave the germination room into the tunnels; the employee is responsible for unloading the trucks that arrive with peat moss(soil) and vermiculite that is used for the seeding; employee is responsible to place pallets with trays, peat moss(soil), vermiculite and all other items that are used to complete this task. The employee must wear Company provided protective gear at all times including dust mask, gloves and safety glasses. Tractor Operator: Drive and control farm equipment to till, plant, cultivate, mow, and harvest crops. Many operations such as maintenance and/or repair require good physical ability and knowledge. Operators may ride equipment such as irrigation tape injectors and or plastic mulch laying equipment. Harvest trailers, loading and unloading of seed, plants, materials and chemicals by hand or forklifts. Workers with a clean MVR and able to obtain an insurable driver\'s license may be requested to operate employer-owned trucks or other multi-purpose vehicles to haul tools, supplies, crops, and transport workers (whether on or off farm) to and from the worker housing to the farm properties and occasionally around the farm properties during the workday including on public roads to reach the fields where work will be performed; and/or may transport workers to the grocery store, bank, or laundry facilities on an as needed basis. Driving does not occur on a regular schedule. No applicants or workers will be rejected for not possessing a drivers license or who may be unwilling to drive company vehicles. Such duties are completely optional and may be declined by the worker at his or her sole discretion. The Employer can and will make alternative arrangements for the transportation of workers should the need arise.
