Senior Enterprise Architect - Cybersecurity

Hybrid working – with a minimum of 3 days per week working from our office in Quedgeley, Gloucester

Security and privacy are paramount concerns for all organizations and in this highly visible and influential role you will provide a structured framework and the guardrails for safeguarding the enterprise. In the context of IT and Cybersecurity, you will work with internal and external stakeholders and partners to proactively solve, lead, and drive the necessary business outcomes through an awareness of the organization’s strategic imperatives and goals.

This is an incredible opportunity to collaborate with stakeholders across the organization, including legal and compliance teams, to define and enforce the required governance policies and practices, aligned to relevant regulations and industry standards. You will play a crucial role in integrating security features in architectural design patterns and practices, defining the policies and standards for secure data storage and transmission, assessing, and selecting appropriate encryption methods, data masking techniques, and secure protocols to protect data at rest and in transit.

We are looking for a collaborative, experienced project leader in cybersecurity who can take a proactive approach to security and privacy, by continuously monitoring the landscape for emerging threats and regulatory changes. You will work collaboratively across IT, business, legal, and privacy teams to bring awareness, define and implement measures that adapt the architecture to maintain integrity, confidentiality, and availability.

Responsi bilities

  • Establish and uphold a framework for security architecture, facilitating the creation and integration of security measures in alignment with business objectives, technological advancements, and emerging threats.

  • Bring architecture best practices to the table; consult and influence senior technical and non-technical leadership on architectural choices. Propose scenarios and roadmaps to reach a target architecture.

  • Maintains expertise in Cybersecurity that incorporates knowledge and understanding of the regulatory and privacy landscape to define architectural standards and best practices.

  • Develop, curate, and sustain security architecture assets such as models, templates, and standards, which serve as valuable resources for incorporating security features into both project initiatives and day-to-day operations.

  • Provide direction, analysis, and design facilitation to develop, maintain and govern security architectures.

  • Ensure that architecture principles, designs, technologies, methods, and practices are properly executed.

  • Review security technologies, tools, and services and make recommendations for their use based on security, financial and operational metrics.

  • Track changes relating to digital business and threat environments, ensuring that these are appropriately addressed in security strategy planning and architecture artefacts.

  • Act as an independent, technical expert for the security and technology teams to ensure controls are fit for purpose, consistent and deliverable.

Skills/Requirements

  • Demonstrable leadership experience, ideally having been involved in cyber transformation projects, particularly with the creation and implementation of systems and controls in a federated operating structure.

  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CCSP, CISMP, SSCP, CISA, ISACA etc)

  • Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies, platforms, and regulatory environments

  • Experience designing the secure deployment of applications and infrastructure into public cloud services.

  • Full-stack infrastructure knowledge including applications, databases, containerization etc.

  • Understanding and knowledge of system development life cycle methodologies (such as waterfall, spiral, agile software development, rapid prototyping, incremental, synchronize and stabilize, and DevOps)

  • Solid understanding & experience of IAM technologies and services, and managing security infrastructure solutions e.g., firewalls, IPS, WAFs, endpoint protection etc.

  • Experience accurately sizing and planning scope of projects for self and others on the team.

  • Comfortable in more than one programming language or at least exhibits a high learning agility to acquire skills.

  • Understands all domains of architecture and applies that knowledge to create solution architectures to solve complex business problems that have a broad impact on the business.

  • Experience defining and negotiating solution options while considering risks, costs, and impact on the enterprise business processes and goals.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation, and communication.
