Job Description Job title Occupational Therapist Reports to Clinical Manager Position Summary The Occupational Therapist provides treatment and support to consumers with intellectual and developmental disabilities or co-occurring mental health and addiction diagnosis to develop, recover and/or maintain the activities of daily living. The OT will offer effective and client-centered services that will enable consumers to confidently and independently carry out everyday tasks or activities. Essential Duties and Functions Address consumer's aspects of performance to support engagement in occupations that affect health, well-being and life quality Select and adapt the appropriate per case occupational therapy treatment model, method and approach to direct the process of interventions Apply interventions to maximize safety and performance in activities of daily living (ADL) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADL) Teach consumers new ways of approaching tasks and educate them on how to break down activities into achievable components Assess consumer's home and other environments and advise on alterations consistent with their needs and capabilities Recommend adaptive equipment and train in its use as needed Guide and educate family members and caregivers Observe, note, and report on progress of long and short term treatment goals Collect data and document processes followed Essential Duties Addendum Qualifications Possession of an Bachelor's level degree in Occupational Therapy. 3 years of clinical experience required; experience with adults with Intellectual Disabilities preferred; experience as a fieldwork educator preferred. Evidence of active certification and State licensure. Evaluation, treatment planning and intervention skills related to the developmentally disabled population. Skills related to supervising, evaluating and educating occupational therapy fieldwork students. Administrative competencies required for managing a student fieldwork program. Consultation skills. Knowledge of the impact of trauma on the well-being of the individuals supported within the program, as well as the impact on staff well-being, preferred.
