· As Engineer/Senior Engineer ATC in CBTC Projects you will be responsible for:

· Work assignments:

· Responsibility for the technical deployment of mass transit roll-outs of Engineering activities in ATC for CBTC Systems as part of large-scale railway infrastructure projects. Ensuring economic success and (internal) customer satisfaction for ATC domain in CBTC application projects.

· Carrying the responsibility for the application scope primarily for technical topics but keeping in mind the commercial impact of selecting a solution. Representation along with Subsystem Manger ATC of the application scope within the project towards the PM and customer, whilst reporting to the line management (group lead).

· Application planning, controlling and reporting: For ATC scope in CBTC projects determination of the comprehensive project objectives from the Contract, Project Management and provided documents. Preparation of the required project documents. Ensuring compliance with defined procedures/processes for project controlling and reporting.

· Application implementation: Coordination of the complex application implementation with international partners. Ensuring that the application goals defined with the technical management, project management and all project participants are achieved.

· Exploration of further business opportunities: Identification and exploitation of additional business opportunities during project implementation, e.g. identifying Change Requests or extending the scope towards generic application work packages.

· Assignment: Technical coordination of the CBTC Application team including coordination with the organizational units involved.

· Your assignment involve: Design, Interface, and Engineering Input clarification with customer and rolling stock supplier

· Interfacing/Clarification with overall Subsystem Manager ATC and System Manager for Engineering and independent safety assessor

· Scope clarification, Design/Engineering planning.

· Evaluation of customer, rolling stock and internal requirements towards establishing suitable project specific solution and requirements engineering/compliance and traceability matrix.

· Have performed hands on design engineering activities for Hardware & Software engineering for wayside and onboard ATC CBTC subsystem and system engineering toward evaluation of operational scenarios, requirements, and interfaces.

· Detailed knowhow on onboard CBTC ATC interface with rolling stock including mounting information for components like Cabinets, Antenna and Speed sensors

· Preparation of detailed design documentation and Safety Application Rules (SAR) evidence report

· Support testing all aspects of the product/system like function/component, system, performance, regression, and service

· Work with development team to identify and capture test cases, ensure version management

· Setting up of test environments, developing test cases/scenarios/usage cases, and executing these cases.

· Providing feedback on usability and serviceability, trace the result to quality risk and report it to concerned people.

· Handling troubleshooting of failures and provide report of each failures

· Understanding of other subsystem like Interlocking, ATS, Communication and Diagnostic Systems

· Knowledge on Test Management and Validation

· Supporting installation and tests activities/teams onsite

· Knowledge of Projects Support functions (RM/DM/CM) and Quality Management

· Degree in electrical/electronic engineering or systems engineering preferably with railway specific specialization

· Professional experience of minimum 5 years in railway transportation systems (Metro / Mass Transit) with the focus on (System) Engineering Design in ATC subsystem for CBTC domain

· Performed hands on design engineering activities for Hardware & Software engineering for wayside and onboard ATC CBTC subsystem besides evaluation of operational scenarios, requirements, and interfaces. Detailed knowledge of CBTC systems

· Knowledge of project management principles for project realization and Project executions covering activities like customer interfacing, scope clarification, Design/Engineering planning and resource allocation

· Fluent English essential both written and oral, knowledge of German/Spanish is an asset

· Independent and structured approach to work

· Team coordination, leadership, and mediation skills between different locations.

Your new role – challenging and future-oriented

  • You will take the technical responsibility for the mass roll-outs of engineering activities in ETCS L2 applications as part of large-scale customer projects in Egypt within time, budget and quality framework.

  • You will be responsible for Generic Application and Specific Application with the first application and subsequent rollouts in Egypt Project.

  • Together with the ETCS team colleagues, support in development and application of standard configuration of Main Line for the first time in an execution project environment thereby developing the Standard configuration of Main Line further through regular and systematic feedback (e.g., via reviews)

  • Responsible for dedicated technical clarifications in the scope of the ETCS subsystem

  • Responsible for dedicated technical deliverables for the Project

  • Preparation of inputs for ETCS HW and SW engineering for the Generic test station and first phase of ETCS L2 application

  • Clarification of issues arising during HW and SW engineering, data test, installation, on-site testing

  • Together with the ETCS team colleagues, definition of a process standard that will be scope to assessment and can be re-used for first phase and upcoming roll out application projects

· For ETCS L2 application projects, derivation of the ETCS subsystem requirements from the System/Project requirements and preparation of suitable documents including preparation/review of the baselines, specifications, and interface documents.

· Ensuring compliance with defined procedures/processes for ETCS engineering.

· Proven competence in Requirements Management, Requirements Engineering, Document Management, Change and Configuration Management.

  • You will also be responsible for supporting:

  • commissioning of the functionality of all trackside components in laboratory and field

  • customer clarification to fulfill system(sub) requirements

  • trainings on ETCS and support both internally and at other locations

  • You are familiar with CENELEC standards and processes (EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129), railway signaling and design engineering.

  • Self-motivated and passionate to work in complex international projects.

  • You have Bachelors degree in engineering, preferably in electrical / electronics engineering with railways specific specialization

  • Extensive professional experience (5 to 8 years) in railway transportation systems, ideally in the rail systems business.

  • Must have performed hands on design engineering/review activities for ETCS L2 for at least 5 years.

· Experience with CBTC, ETCS L1 also acceptable, if candidate shows string technical and managerial skills (alternatively for ETCS L2 experience)

  • Extensive technical knowledge on operation scenario, national values, terminology and packets/telegrams. Extensive knowledge of various ETCS Subsets and UNISIG baseline 2/3.

  • Potential for further growth from a system engineering position (technical skills) within the first Generic phase to a responsible delivery management position (management skills) for the next rollouts.

  • Ability to act as an internal trainer for locally growing team at Engineering Center

  • Willingness for a long-term commitment to the grow technically and professionally with the Project and Engineering Team.

  • Willingness for some business travel (few weeks/months) for an initial period of time when joining the Program.

  • Willingness for 5% business travel (Europe, potentially to Egypt).

  • You have experience in reading and understanding technical requirements to generate design documentation.

  • You have interest in working with different software tools to implement project specific ETCS data and Subsystem documentation.

  • Your knowledge of engineering processes and communication skills to interface different departments will be important.

  • Knowledge of Test management, Validation Principles and RAMS Management as per EN norms will be an added advantage.

  • Tools experience with DOORS, ClearQuest, SAP.

  • You are willing to work as team member in international projects.

  • Fluent English essential both written and oral, knowledge of German/French/Dutch will be an advantage.

  • Excellent communication abilities combined with strong interpersonal skills.

  • High level of customer and quality orientation together with strong abilities in consulting and implementation
