Emerson Supplier Quality Engineer in PUNE, India
Job Summary
If you are a Supply Chain professional, Emerson has an exciting role for you! We are looking for a Supply Chain Specialist to work with our Global Supply Chain organization. This role has responsibility for ensuring the supply base is capable of consistently and reliably delivering goods and services evaluating and mitigating risks on early project phases, working with suppliers to develop and implementing standard processes. This position is charged with improving processes, materials, and products with Emerson’s supply base. Supplier qualification and monitoring, Production part approval process (PPAP), proactive process/product improvement and corrective action activities are core responsibilities of this position.
In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
Lead multi-function teams in the qualification/audits of suppliers, their products and services.
Owner of the PPAP process.
Lead effective technical reviews with internal customers and with suppliers.
Responsible for coordinating FAI’s with multiple Emerson sites globally, conducting FAI’s at suppliers and making decision about disposition of the PPAP/FAI.
Support receiving inspection by providing technical support in inspection methodology.
Build strong relationships & Collaborate with Supplier’s to create sustainable & high-quality product supply chain.
Take immediate actions with supplier notification, SCAR or other methods when quality of the product is questionable.
Maintain supplier scorecard. Deliver results as measured by key metrics, such as supplier DPPM, Lead time for FAI’s, % FAI Rejects (FPY on FAIs), Supplier corrective action closure.
Develop positive relationships and work closely with Plant Supply Chain Management, Strategic Sourcing, other site SQE’s and Engineering to manage and implement supplier / engineering changes, New Product Introductions, and transfers.
Will be responsible for the overall quality of the product, process, and outgoing quality for assigned suppliers and accelerate improvements in supplier quality and delivery value.
Applies statistical quality methods such as Statistical Process Controls (SPC), Statistical Quality Controls (SQC), Design of Experiments (DOE), Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) methodology, Gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility (GR&R), and Hypothesis testing to drive continuous improvement internally and at suppliers.
Understand and drive Lean and Proactive Quality Assurance internally and with suppliers
Provide Quality Engineering expertise requiring advanced / specialized skills and a broad range of quality engineering expertise.
Work with suppliers to Pressure Relief Valves related codes and standards are clearly understood and met.
Support MRB process and handle disposition of purchased components. Drive supplier corrective/preventive actions using root cause and counter measure (RCCM) methodology.
Provide leadership role during investigations of major problems and of special projects.
Develop/Modify Supplier/Receiving Quality related procedures working with multi-functional team.

For This Role, You Will Need:
BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, Metallurgical) preferable.
More than 7 years of experience in Quality Engineering functions, in which over 3 years in Supplier Quality.
Experience in first article inspection, control plans, PPAP process.
Experience with the ISO 9000 Quality Management system and audits.
Experience in Inspection techniques commonly used in industry.
Experience in casting industry preferred.
Thorough knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, 5S, etc. Six Sigma Certification a plus.
Knowledge of ASME codes (I, II, V, VIII, and IX), PED (European Pressure Equipment Directive) and NDT a plus.
Experience using statistics and various quality improvement tools such as Process Mapping, FMEA, DOE, SPC, Gage R&R, and Root Cause Analysis
Bilingual (English 95%).
Strong leadership skills, able to listen, communicate effectively and work as a team.
Self-directed and results driven, good presentation skills.
Strong decision maker.
Knowledge of GD & T, Lean company and Six Sigma.
Knowledge of problem-solving techniques (8 D's, 5 whys, six steps and DMAIC).
Knowledge in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point).
Travel to the Supplier sites and Emerson locations will be required.
Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:
Experience in quality assurance of industrial processes, materials and products.
Experience and knowledge of manufacturing and lean preferred.
Experience with core software applications (ERP), preferably with SAP or Oracle.
Microsoft Office skills, Excellent at using Excel on data analysis.
