Factory Design Utilities is an interoperable 2D and 3D factory layout and optimization solution that's used to design and communicate efficient layouts by creating a digital model of your layout. Factory Design enhances AutoCAD and Inventor software with direct access to layout workflows and factory-specific content. Factory Design allows layout designers to begin their layout process in the desired Inventor 3D parametric environment or the 2D AutoCAD environment they are familiar with. Factory Design supports bidirectional associativity between AutoCAD and Inventor, ensuring accurate and efficient design workflows.
We are expanding our presence in Pune, India and looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join our team focused on shaping the future of Factory Design solutions in Autodesk Fusion. Reporting to the Manager of Software Development for Factory Design, you would be someone who is enthusiastic about creating applications targeted at Factory Design and Simulation. The ideal candidate will have experience in all aspects of software development for desktop applications.
Responsibilities
Engage in technical and architectural discussions and decision-making to shape the future of making things
Lead planning, design, development, and testing of key features/functions delivered via applications and services
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements, understand use cases and build towards a cohesive technical strategy
Engage in hands-on software development for products that will perform at scale, support maintainability, and allow for extensibility
Perform code reviews, evaluate implementations, and provide feedback for tool improvements
Uphold team standards by championing engineering best practices
Spearhead solutions for uncertain milestones, from requirement clarification and scope planning to ensuring delivery
Provide direct technical support to customers for complex issues
Be a technical leader who influences technical decisions across multiple teams
Work with an extended team of software developers, QA engineers, product managers, and architects in the US and other worldwide engineering sites
Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily scrums, backlog grooming, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
Participate in on-call rotation to support production systems
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field
10+ years of industry experience in building and delivering robust, high-performance, and maintainable commercial applications
Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles
Expertise in technologies including C++, C#, .Net Core & .Net Framework
Experience in building user interfaces with WPF and/or WinForms
Solid understanding of CAD tools and background in CAD customization
Experience with database technologies e.g. MSSQL
Working knowledge of build automation and CI/CD pipelines
Experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS/Azure
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and working in a Scrum framework
Solid understanding of event-driven architecture principles
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s in computer science
Experience developing add-ins, plugins, content libraries (Autodesk preferred)
Familiarity with CAD concepts related to Inventor, AutoCAD, Factory Design Utilities
Act as a product owner for the team, balancing requirements from different sources such as product management, the architectural roadmap, and service/component improvements
