Mechanical Designer in the Supplier Transfer Excellence Team provides the successful candidate with an immediate opportunity to be part of a team dedicated to improving the Philips supply chain. You are responsible for
Responsible for global cross functional teams for assigned supplier transfer & sustaining projects
Responsible for understanding the packaging requirements & specifications
Analyze engineering drawings &specifications of product to determine physical characteristics of item, special handling, environmental and safety equipment’s, and types of materials required for packaging
Conduct DFM, DFA reviews with suppliers for Packaging solutions
Develops Products packaging requirements & specifications
Creates 3D models, assembly and detailing including drawing conversions
Apply GD&T and perform Tolerance stack-up analysis for components/Sub-system.
DFM &DFA activities & optimization of design for cost reduction
Carryout DFMEA and identify relevant product risks due packaging failure modes
Participate in DFx discussions and identify opportunities in cost reduction for packaging
Identify and implement cost savings initiatives related to packaging material, labor, efficiency, transportation and storage.
Work closely with the engineering to optimize packaging supply base for cost, lead time, Quality, regionalization, standardization, supply assurance and compliance with regulatory & internal requirements
Specify and recommend efficiency tools and test methods to develop and validate packaging designs
Update designs of components and subsystems to improve manufacturability, performance, quality, and cost
Work with manufacturing department to ensure that the packaging designs are optimized for manufacturability
Develop test plans to ensure that packaging meets specifications
Review and ensure adequacy of supplier part qualification activities
Shall have hands-on expertise in Engineering change Management.
Work with suppliers, procurment engineers to complete the prototypes and design optimization.
Mechanical design and design changes of a module/sub system/ system
Identifying the suitable Packaging materials for designs and creating and releasing BOM
Performing hand calculations for the design feasibility
Must be very good and hands on with 2D & 3D (prefer - Creo, Solid works.)
Hands on Windchill/ Agile/ PLM software ‘s
Knowledge of IEC 6061, ISTA, ASTM, ANSI, GD&T standards are preferred

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience
B.E/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering/Automobile /Industrial
MS in engineering preferred
7+years of proven design engineering and product development experience
Experience supporting global projects
Experience with CAD software(s)
Experience In working with ISTA standards & other Packaging standards
Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Knowledge of manufacturing quality systems and working in a regulated industry
Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerance
Working knowledge of Microsoft Project, Excel, Power Point, and Word required
Strong English written and verbal communication skills required
