Job Description

Stantec is a leader in global infrastructure, water resource development, Buildings, Mining, Oil and Gas providing engineering design and remediation, construction, procurement, program management, and technology solutions for the environmental, water, wastewater, energy and power markets of the Americas, Europe, Middle East, Asia Pacific region.

Stantec is looking for Mechanical Designer with expertise in Mechanical detailing Water/ Wastewater applications based in the Pune, India office.

The Process Mechanical Designer role conducts and supports the delivery of complete mechanical detail design drawings associated Water/ Wastewater treatment plants.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Review the input received from client and understand the scope of work and then plan work accordingly without changing design intent.

  • Carry out complete Mechanical, general arrangement 3D models and drawings for plans, single line diagrams, sections, elevations in Revit/AutoCAD with minimal supervision.

  • Coordination with other Disciplines Designers and Engineers as applicable.

  • Coordinate with BIM/CAD Lead concerning project requirements.

  • Able to work on Custom Revit families where applicable.

  • Candidate should be able to visualize and produce clash free 3D model using Navisworks/Revit.

  • Prepare Shop/Installation Drawings based on the coordinated Model.

  • Prepare Bill of Materials/Quantity Take off.

  • Provide regular work status updates, including risks or concerns to Discipline Lead/Project Manager/Project Lead.

  • Stay updated with relevant technical developments within the discipline.

  • Attend project meetings and calls as required.

  • Must adhere to company QAQC process and BIM strategies

  • May also be required to Train new modelers/designers

  • Undertake other duties as may be assigned from time-to-time by management.

  • Need to work off-hours for client co-ordination: Occasionally

  • Travelling off-shore (secondments) to other Stantec global offices: for durations ranging from 3 to 6 months or as required.

  • Strong analytical capabilities and the ability to work independently.

  • Good oral and written communication skills.

  • Commitment to safe work practices.

  • Should be good team player.

  • Able to provide input into projects with minimal supervision. Is able to prioritize work products based on project schedule.

Person Specifications:

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering; -OR- I.T.I. Mech. draftsperson.

  • For Diploma 5-6 years’ experience. If I.T.I. 12 + years’ experience.

  • Mechanical Computer Aided Design experience on Water/Buildings Industry projects.

  • Ability to complete Mechanical Revit MEP 3D detailed engineering models for buildings projects.

  • Experience in use of associated discipline software especially AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, BIM 360, ProjectWise.

  • Ability to complete Mechanical general arrangement 3D models and drawings for plans, single line diagrams, sections, elevations in Revit/AutoCAD with minimal supervision

  • The following skills will be very useful * - Knowledge of Dynamo software

  • Experience in Industrial Buildings

  • Skills that are essential for the job, but can be easily learnt after joining

  • Knowledge and project experience of working and delivering using Common Data Environments like Bentley ProjectWise and Autodesk BIM 360.

  • Knowledge and project experience of Autodesk Navisworks.

  • Should be good team player.

  • Good oral and written communication skills.

Full knowledge of specialist areas of the BIM process for project delivery.
