Cummins Inc. Facilities Technician - Electrician - Level III in Pune, India

DESCRIPTION

Job Summary:

The Facilities Technician - Electrician is responsible for servicing, supporting, and maintaining electrical equipment within a designated location. This role includes performing electrical preventative maintenance and diagnosing issues under minimal supervision. The Technician will also support facility improvement projects and coordinate with other departments to ensure a safe and efficient electrical system.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety and Compliance:

  • Maintain safe work habits in all daily tasks.

  • Plan and evaluate projects with a strong focus on safety.

  • Ensure preventative work accounts for unforeseen safety risks.

Electrical Maintenance and Repairs:

  • Follow manufacturer-recommended electrical preventative maintenance schedules and startup procedures.

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and control systems using specialized electrical test equipment.

  • Perform electrical repairs and guide apprentices and other technicians.

Facility Electrical Support:

  • Use plant electrical distribution knowledge to support customer needs and assess additional electrical loading.

  • Consult with facility personnel on adding equipment feeds as necessary.

Project Coordination and Tracking:

  • Use software to manage reactive, planned, preventative, and predictive electrical maintenance work.

  • Plan, schedule, order, and track electrical maintenance activities.

  • Lead electrical work on improvement projects and ensure compliance with quality procedures.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work collaboratively with other departments to repair and maintain electrical systems.

  • Participate in self and team audits and help implement corrective actions.

Facility Electrical Technical:

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and install electrical distribution systems, motors, breaker boxes, and other electrical equipment to support facility operations.

Facility HVAC Technical:

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and install heating and cooling equipment, boilers, ventilation systems, chillers, and other mechanical systems.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

  • High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education.

  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering (DEE) or equivalent is required.

Experience:

  • 6 to 8 years of relevant work experience in electrical maintenance and troubleshooting.

  • Specialized skills obtained through education, training, or on-the-job experience in electrical systems and industrial facilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Additional Experience Preferences / Technical Skills

  1. Advance Automation System like Siemens make Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) & SCADA technologies.

  2. Understanding of Siemens make Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) & SCADA systems.

  3. Engine Test Cell - Electrical & Control System Troubleshooting.

  4. Industrial Utilities, HVAC, Power Sub-Stations, Power Distribution Panels, On Line UPS power distribution

  5. Fire Alarm System, Gas Detection System, Water mist System.

  6. Knowledge of AVL – Puma test cells would be a great advantage.

  7. Good experience of various Dynamometers & Dynamometer Controllers like Eddy current, Hydraulic, Regenerative etc.

  8. Electrical & Control System Troubleshooting - This skill involves the ability to understand PLC logic & conventional Logic, PLC Programming Operation & maintenance of equipment

Skills and Experience:

  • Technical Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge of automation systems, including Siemens Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and SCADA technologies.

  • Experience in troubleshooting engine test cell electrical and control systems.

  • Familiarity with industrial utilities, HVAC systems, power substations, power distribution panels, and online UPS power systems.

  • Knowledge of fire alarm systems, gas detection systems, and water mist systems.

  • Experience with AVL Puma test cells and dynamometers (Eddy current, hydraulic, regenerative).

  • Electrical and Control Systems:

  • Proficient in troubleshooting electrical systems, understanding PLC logic and conventional logic, PLC programming, and equipment maintenance.
