With increasingly demanding applications that require time synchronization to protect electric power assets and detect anomalies, every nanosecond counts. SEL is seeking a talented and motivated Product Engineer in the Precise Time product group within Research and Development (R&D). In this role, you will support and expand a portfolio of time synchronization products. As a Product Application Engineer, a typical day may include the following: * Develop Roadmaps: Advocate for the customer when collaborating with cross-discipline engineers and managers to prioritize roadmaps for new features and products. * Specify Requirements: Define requirements for features and products that surpass market expectations, leveraging a strong grasp of customer needs. * System Validation: Conduct system-level validation and interoperability testing from the customer's perspective with a concentration on quality. * Customer Support: Provide technical product support to both internal and external customers. * Customer Literature: Prepare customer-facing product documentation, including datasheets, marketing/sales materials, instruction manuals, release notes, and service bulletins, with meticulous attention to detail. * Technical Presentations: Speak to large groups, whether explaining complex concepts to customers, conducting training sessions, or presenting at industry events. * Competitor Analysis: Analyze competitor products and curate technical comparison reports. * Define Best Practices: Develop application notes and white papers describing industry best practices. This job may be a good fit if you: * Possess a bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or related field of study. * Have 2+ years of time synchronization experience which may include: * Position, navigation, and timing (PNT) technologies (GNSS, GPS, etc.) * Various types of oscillators (TCXO, OCXO, etc.) * Precision Time Protocol (PTP; IEEE 1588) * Network Time Protocol (NTP; RFC 5905) * IRIG-B * Frequency distribution (10MHz, SyncE, etc.) * Have related experience in operation technology (OT) industrial networking/automation (such as IEC 61850) and/or time sensitive telecommunications systems. * Command strong writing, speaking and presentation skills. * Relish rapidly learning new skills, assuming new responsibilities and working cooperatively. * Enjoy working with customers to understand and solve their challenges with creative solutions. * Can travel up to 5-10% to conferences, trade shows, sales meetings and customer visits.
