Professional (+) (Fixed Term) Time Type: Full time Position Term: 12 Month Position Details: Summary of Duties: The College of Arts and Sciences, in conjunction with the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology, is accepting applications for a Communications Coordinator/Writer to provide communications and marketing for a new state-wide public data project on policing and to support a range of communications needs for the College of Arts and Sciences. In addition to writing and producing content for a variety of media channels, the Public Relations and Communications Coordinator will develop and implement a strategic communications plan for the launch the public data project and to encourage ongoing engagement with, and participation in, the project among local policing agencies and the public. The person in this role will help establish key performance indicators, monitor agreed-upon metrics, and regularly gather stakeholder and audience feedback to assess the effectiveness of the strategic communication plan and make data-informed decisions. This role will integrate DEI principles to ensure inclusive and accessible messaging to all stakeholder and constituent groups, including law enforcement agencies, state and local policymakers, researchers, and the public. This is a fixed-term position currently funded for three years from date of hire. Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment. Required Qualifications: • A Bachelor\'s degree in public relations, communications, marketing or other relevant field AND either two (2) years of professional experience in print OR broadcast news media, public relations, marketing including the use of electronic media or two (2) years of other relevant professional experience. • Two years professional experience with external communications, strategy, and implementation. • Two years experience in web design and/or development, including usability and user experience. • Experience creating content for social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn, and assessing engagement metrics. • Proficient in Adobe InDesign and PhotoShop. • Demonstrated experience with WordPress or other CMS platforms. • Content creation samples will be requested as part of the interview process. Preferred Qualifications: • Three or more years professional experience with external communications, strategy, and implementation. • Demonstrated experience developing communications goals in a collaborative environment. • Experience with usability testing, including designing tasks and analyzing results. • Experience with focus groups, including recruiting participants, developing goals, leading discussions, analyzing results & feedback. • Experience in media relations, identifying appropriate outlets and reporters, pitching stories. • Confident photographer and videographer. • Knowledge of Adobe Premier and AfterEffects. • Experience with digital and print advertising or marketing campaigns. • Solid understanding of website traffic analytics. • Knowledgeable in integrated marketing concepts. • Experience organizing translation of materials into Spanish or other languages.
