Professional Position Details: Job Description The Opportunity: The Voiland College of Engineering and Architecture invites candidates to apply for a Academic Coordinator/Advisor. You will provide academic advisement for prospective and current undergraduate students within the Civil & Environmental Engineering department. You will coordinate academic programs related to recruitment, retention, and graduation efforts. Your responsibilities include managing the student recruitment process, collaborating with the Pullman coordinator to rank Civil & Environmental Engineering applicants, assessing academic levels, responding to academic inquiries, advising students, and developing individual academic plans. Additionally, you will process and maintain student records for undergraduate students in the programs. You will participate in the Undergraduate Studies Committee to administer the undergraduate program, assist the department Chair and Faculty in preparing for ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology), provide the department Chair with student statistical analysis, and prepare reports and respond to inquiries regarding undergraduate student program policies and procedures. The successful candidate will begin as either a Academic Coordinator/Advisor 1 or Academic Coordinator/Advisor 2 depending on your level of experience. Required Qualifications: Advisor 1: • Bachelor's degree and two (2) years' experience working with students in an educational setting or related experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. Advisor 2: • Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of full-time academic advising experience in a college or university or related experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional academic advising experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. Requirements Qualifications for All Candidates: • Demonstrated excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills. • Experience with academic advising and related issues. • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and positively in a diverse team environment. • Demonstrated ability to extrapolate and tabulate data from online databases. • Demonstrated ability to prioritize job tasks effectively. Preferred Qualifications for All Candidates: • Master's degree in related field. • Knowledge of curriculum management practices, processes, and policies. • Experience working with and maintaining student records. • Familiarity with Washington State University academic rules and regulations.
