CITY OF PUEBLO SY-Temp Recreation Specialist - Sports in Pueblo, Colorado

POSITION: Temp Recreation Specialist - Sports

DUTIES: * Responsible for all participants in a program area and the implementation of all activities at the site assigned by the supervisor to include, but not limited to enforcing rules, regulations, and proper sports guideline, while engaging and interacting with participants and public, and creating a fun structured environment. * Direct supervision of all staff at sites throughout the City includes daily guidance and evaluations of staff and leaders. * Responsible for planning weekly program of activities. * Appropriate and direct management of all children/youth and adults. * Facilitation of activities for all groups. * Establish a positive rapport with all participants in the program. * Attend all staff meetings and training sessions, including any state-mandated courses. * Assist with administering staff meetings and training sessions. * Responsible for maintaining equipment and supplies and tracking inventories. * Responsible for effectively handling all emergency incidents that occur, using mature, sound judgment. * Ensure adequate communication with staff/supervisor/parents and participants. * Driving City vehicle with supplies and equipment to program sites.

REQUIREMENTS: * A high school diploma or equivalent * At least two years of experience in recreation setting * Extensive knowledge in specialized programming >50%. * A valid driver s license at the time of application, and a valid Colorado driver's license within 30 days of employment. * License restrictions that may hinder your ability to drive on City business, such as an interlock, will be cause for disqualification. * During employment, a valid license must be maintained, and the employee must notify the City immediately upon changes to the status of their license

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: * Knowledge of recreation, sports, and youth/teen programming * Recommend and implement goals and objectives for providing services * Provide direction to program participants and communicate with participants, spectators, and parent/guardians * Recommend programs that meet community needs * Interpret and apply rules and regulations in assigned program areas * Ensure program compliance with mandated City policies, procedures, rules, and regulations * Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted during work

WAGE: $17.90 hourly

SHIFTS: * Temporary/ Seasonal * The individuals must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule.
