Location: Providence, RI or Raleigh, NC (Hybrid – 2 to 3 days onsite)

Job Description:

Our client is seeking a skilled Electronic Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. The Electronic Design Engineer will contribute to cutting-edge embedded product design, with a focus on medical devices. The ideal candidate will bring approximately 10 years of industry experience, demonstrating expertise in VHDL and Verilog, as well as proficiency in Xilinx and ST microcontroller technologies. Experience with Altium for board design and Embedded C programming is essential for this role. Additionally, familiarity with FPGA design would be advantageous.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to):

  • Design and develop electronic circuits and systems for embedded medical devices.

  • Implement designs using VHDL and Verilog, ensuring compliance with industry standards.

  • Utilize Xilinx and ST microcontroller platforms effectively in design projects.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate hardware designs into overall product architecture.

  • Create and maintain documentation related to electronic designs and processes.

  • Participate in design reviews, testing, and troubleshooting activities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or related technical field is preferred.

  • Approximately 10 years of relevant experience in electronic product design, with a focus on embedded systems.

  • Proficiency in VHDL and/or Verilog for FPGA design.

  • Strong background in using Xilinx and ST microcontroller technologies.

  • Experience with Altium Designer for PCB layout and schematic capture.

  • Solid understanding of Embedded C programming for microcontrollers.

  • Prior experience in the medical device industry, with knowledge of regulatory requirements (i.e., FDA guidelines).

  • Familiarity with FPGA design methodologies and tools is preferred.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to present complex technical information clearly.
