Expected annual base salary range: $144,000 to $240,000

JOB SUMMARY:
The Vice President, Business Development is responsible for generating new business and
maintaining the growth of current business within the clinical services industry. This role will
orchestrate the business development process throughout the sales cycle, aligning account
expansion of existing and new customers. This role is responsible for generating new leads,
calling on potential new accounts, and maintaining and growing long term relationships to
impact bottom line results.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The accountabilities listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.
• Selling and Closing New Accounts (70%)
o Identify new business leads including cold calling
o Qualify prospects according to suitability for company marketing services models,
available budget and timeline
o Obtain client signatures and deposit check for first project
o Achieve or exceed company annual new account quotas for each service offering.
o Coordinate with Operations, Client Services and Creative Services to assemble
documentation necessary to close a new account, including Proposals, Master
Services Agreements and Statement(s) of Work
• Client Relationship Management (10%)
o Ensure seamless hand off of new accounts to Program/Account Managers
• Department Development and Management (10%)
o Develop a staffing plan for the Sales team
o Successfully recruit, train, develop and manage sales staff
o Assist with developing annual new account and revenue goals
o Plan and forecast department expense budgets
• Industry Knowledge (10%)
o Acquire and maintain a strong and current industry knowledge base
o Stay abreast of the latest medical device, pharmaceutical and healthcare marketing
trends
o Assist with spotting new market opportunities and developing services to exploit
them
o Develop new selling techniques as needed to stay ahead of the market
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor. These may, on occasion, be unrelated to the
position described here.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
• 10+ years of sales management experience, including at least 5 years of experience at a
department head level and 5 years of experience selling enterprise services
• Demonstrated basic understanding of medical and healthcare industry marketing concepts
and trends
• Working knowledge of healthcare regulatory requirements
• Outstanding interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills, including strong
presentation development and delivery skills
• Strong leadership abilities
• Ability to successfully collaborate within a team environment
• Demonstrated track record of consistent selling success throughout career
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Overall responsibility of management including direction, coordination, performance, and
evaluation of the assigned team and staff. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
