Summary :

The Finance and Operations Manager will support Portfolio governance lead in providing financial management, Operational oversight and Strategic insights that optimize the services GPS IT function provides our customers​.

They will assist in overseeing the health and performance of GPS IT Finances. Closely monitoring, analyzing data, actuals, forecasting, and advising on opportunities that increase the financial position and/or operational efficiencies of the organization.

Support Portfolio Governance lead to proactively identify risks and barriers to project goals, and monitor the overall health of the portfolio and drive initiatives to optimize.

They will support the development of reporting capabilities for GPS IT to provide analytics that contribute to developing and implementing improvements that optimize the performance across GPS IT function. On demand and periodically provide metrics and data for consumption by Portfolio Governance in reporting progress to GPS IT and IT PMO Leadership. Responsible for development of reporting including actuals, resource allocations for projects, and cross-functional alignment opportunities. Produce reports and statistics of the Portfolio that ensure transparency & predictability of execution & financial performance.

This role will support in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting through each budget cycle and develop reporting capabilities for GPS IT functions to support transparent financial management. He/She will support the organization through technical expertise, financial analytics, and operational excellence capabilities to drive positive outcomes and data improvements. Promote opportunities for improvement that will streamline and automate operations

Collaborate with Delivery leads as required on transactional execution of the projects.

Position Responsibilities:

Relationship development and ownership:

  • Builds inclusive relationships across all IT Functions leveraging to drive transparent financial discipline and process efficiencies that increase organizational performance.

  • Assists delivery teams throughout the budgeting lifecycle, building trusting partnerships with delivery team members at all levels.

  • Communicates successes and issues accurately, urgently, and to the right audience. Takes accountability for ensuring effective management of expectations with business leaders.

  • Participate in cross functional initiatives as needed.

  • Promotes BMS’ culture of diversity and inclusion to develop others' skills in support of their career goals.

Financial Management:

  • Supports the IT for GPS Portfolio Governance Lead in financial management function helping to maximize strategic priorities and value opportunities within financial constraints.

  • Assist to optimize investment activities through the development of strategies and plans that support the long-term financial goals of the organization.

  • Partners with IT leadership to help measure and track qualitative and quantitative benefits realization from investments.

  • Engages across the IT for GPS organization to ensure optimal performance by proactively removing obstacles to drive productivity. Provides a secondary point of escalation for all team members regarding Financial Management and IT Operations.

  • Provide insights and opportunities to meet or exceed financial targets.

  • Educate and train team members to follow and adhere to financial compliance and rules on underwriting and transactional execution of investments.

Reporting/Analytics:

  • Build and maintain analytical reporting capabilities that support the mission of the Finance and Operations function as well as the broader GPS IT organization.

  • Collaborate and share internally developed capabilities with peer teams to ensure awareness and efficiencies across the IT organization.

  • Creating frameworks to collect, cleanse and consume data into our target reporting tools/repositories.

  • Develop modeling capabilities in support of strategic objectives/programs of the organization.

  • Identify actionable results thru data correlation findings.

  • Support ad-hoc projects and requests that are assigned to the Finance and Operations function.

  • Research, identify and resolve root causes driving financial variances.

Desired Qualifications and Experiences:

  • Demonstrated track-record of several years managing large, complex IT budgets, preferably in the Life Sciences domain.

  • Experience with developing reporting analytics across a variety of toolsets including but not limited to: PowerBI, Excel, Quickbase, Tableau, Spotfire.

  • Experience translating and correlating complex/disparate data points into summarized consumable material.

  • Ability to identify and improve the quality of data used in analytical reporting.

  • Proven ability to apply depth of expertise across multiple related disciplines and integration points with other functions.

  • Background in statistics and visualization techniques to demonstrate business value.

  • Experience with software development methodologies and requirements gathering techniques such as Agile (Scrum, AUP, SAFe etc.) and Waterfall is preferred.

  • Knowledge and experience of computer systems validation is preferred.

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher or equivalent experience is required. Field of study in the sciences; biology, chemistry, mathematics, or in computer science and information management are preferred.

  • Proven experience with a variety of data analytic and reporting toolsets such as but not limited to: PowerBI, Excel, Quickbase, Tableau.

  • Demonstrated success working in a matrix team structure to drive collaborative outcomes that meet organizational objectives.

  • Self-motivated with validated personal integrity, judgement and professional maturity and ability to collaborate.

  • Confirmed ability to use structured problem solving and available tools to quickly evaluate problems, identify root causes, create action plans, assess impact, and develop resolution options.

  • Demonstrated leadership ability to:

  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate and collaborate with employees and management at all levels.
