The Opportunity

We are seeking a full-time Copy Editor to be based in our Princeton headquarters and work with our global editorial team!

This Copy Editor will be responsible for intensive editing of a broad range of content, including but not limited to: news stories, marketing content/copy, work to be produced within CyberEd (http://cybered.io) , events content guides and various marketing materials for executive roundtable events, marketing materials for global summits, e-books in production for clients.

The Copy Editor will begin the editing process by fixing any grammatical, punctuation and spelling errors to ensure that articles are written in accordance with our style guide. This individual will work closely with our writers and executive news editors to suggest changes to enhance articles’ readability, conciseness and style.

Responsibilities

  • Thoroughly review writers’ submitted drafts.

  • Double check that names, places, and organizations are spelled properly and that facts, dates, and statistics are accurate.

  • Find any grammatical, punctuation, and spelling errors in written content and correcting them.

  • Ensure articles and other written materials created by our team are in accordance with the style guides.

  • ​ Suggest changes to enhance articles’ readability, conciseness, and style.

  • Assist the writing staff with research topics, as well as, locating and contacting sources throughout the development of articles.

  • Check and rewrite text to ensure clarity, readability and adherence to editorial policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in relevant fields.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience within Copy Editing, preferably within digital media.

  • Advanced writing skills along with exceptional knowledge and understanding of grammar, punctuation, spelling, and syntax is a must.

  • Background in technology and/or cybersecurity industries with subject matter knowledge is a plus!

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

  • Proactive nature with advanced organizational and time management skills and an ability to work quickly in a fast paced environment while effectively prioritizing projects.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills in order to help editors communicate with tact and provide encouragement to the writing staff.

  • Knowledge on a broad variety of topics is ideal along with a sense of curiosity, creativity, and eagerness to learn.
