Statement of the Job:

The University of Maine at Presque Isle is seeking a full-time Facilities Maintenance Worker (Custodian) to begin immediately.

The scheduled shift is 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM (with potential flexibilty on either end if needed) and Monday through Friday with Saturdays and Sundays off.

Essential duties of the Facilities Maintenance Worker include routine and non-routine cleaning services such as, but not limited to:

  • Operates cleaning equipment and uses cleaning chemicals and materials.

  • Performs (sometimes heavy) lifting in the removal of trash, moving furniture and equipment.

  • Shovels snow from building entrances and walkways.

  • May pick up debris within several feet of the building.

  • Cleans fixtures, furnishings, and facilities in and around campus buildings.

  • Works alone or in groups.

  • Climbs ladders up to 12 feet to perform necessary work.

  • Adheres to safety procedures, including reporting mechanical and/or safety issues.

The rate of pay is $16.11 per hour. In addition, the University will contribute up to a 4% matching contribution to the UMS retirement plan.     Qualifications:

    Required:

  • High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D)

  • Valid Driver's License and be an authorized and approved University Driver based on the Driver Administration Policy.

    Preferred:

  • Related cleaning experience

  • Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions.

  • Must have good communication skills.

  • Be able to work independently.

  • Experience using commercial cleaning equipment is a plus.
