AON Earthquake Catastrophe Model Developer in Prague, Czech Republic

Earthquake Catastrophe Model Developer

This role is part of Aon Impact Forecasting team, a team of scientists, developers and client services colleagues together developing and supporting catastrophe models for various perils including flood, windstorm, earthquake, wildfire or terrorism.

What the day will look like

  • Participate in development of all earthquake model component such as: exposure, hazard and vulnerability.

  • Manage overall implementation process of our catastrophe models into loss modelling platform ELEMENTS for earthquake and related perils such as tsunamis, liquefaction, landslides, and fire-following earthquake.

  • Manage the model testing and overall coordination with client’s solution team including the model delivery in accordance with the existing procedures.

  • Bring innovation and improvements into our testing and implementation procedures as well as into our modelling tools and workflows.

  • Communicate and present results to other Aon departments, deliver external presentation to clients, at conferences, etc.

  • Be part of the development team and be able to coordinate tasks with other members.

  • Collaborate with other team members from different offices worldwide.

  • Use Aon in-house software packages.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • Educational background in the field of data science, computer science or mathematics at graduate or postgraduate level

  • Proficient in Python programming language (pandas, numpy, scipy, matplotlib)

  • Knowledge of SQL scripting and management of relational databases (e.g. in MS SQL Server), knowledge of GIS and GIS tools (QGIS / ArcGIS)

  • Experience with machine learning / ai tools is an advantage

  • Excellent communication skills in English. Other languages are also welcome

  • Understanding of the insurance / reinsurance business is a plus!
