Job Title: Setup Machinist

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Setup Machinist with extensive CNC setup and operation experience. The ideal candidate will have proficiency in operating and setting up both lathe and milling machines, with an emphasis on working with extremely tight tolerances and interpreting blueprints and GD&T. This role requires the ability to perform quality checks using various inspection tools and document results accurately.

Responsibilities

• Operate and set up lathe and milling machines.

• Interpret blueprints and shop layouts according to company specifications.

• Utilize inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gages to perform minor quality checks.

• Document results and maintain accurate records.

• Work with 10ths of an inch with GD&T metrics, ensuring extremely tight tolerances.

Essential Skills

• CNC setup and operation experience.

• Proficiency in 3 and 4 axis lathe and milling (5 axis is a plus).

• Ability to work with extremely tight tolerances.

• Working knowledge of interpreting blueprints and GD&T.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Basic to intermediate math skills.

• Certification or degree preferred but not necessary.

• 3-4 years of experience working on lathes (3 and 4 axis; 5 axis is a plus).

• Troubleshooting and mechanical skills.

• Experience with machine operating.

Work Environment

Candidates will be working with approximately 30 other CNC Operators in the department, primarily focusing on lathes. The work environment is business casual, with steel toe boots required. The 2nd shift operates from 3PM - 1:30AM, Monday through Thursday, offering a four-day work week with 10-hour days.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Poughkeepsie, New York.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00
