Imagine One Technology & Management Business Data Analyst in Portsmouth, Virginia

Imagine One is now interviewing for "contingent" position of Business Data Analyst. This position supports the US Navy at the Aircraft Carrier Planning Activity (CPA) at Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, Virginia. The Business Data Analyst will be a part of a government/contract team that develops and executes aircraft carrier life cycle maintenance plans that enable the ships to achieve their 50-year design life. The individual will assist CPA engineers, engineering technicians, and ship life cycle managers with manipulation and analysis of maintenance data. The individual must be capable of working independently on complex data analysis projects and must have good communication skills.

DUTIES AND QUALIFICATIONS, IDENTIFYING BOTH ESSENTIAL AND MARGINAL DUTIES:

Typical work requirements include:

  • Compile and analyze ship maintenance data contained in computer databases to identify trends, problems and possible solutions.

  • Design and build databases to house information, ensure data accuracy, and make recommendations to CPA managers about how to improve efficiency or quality based on their findings.

  • Provide analytical support for ship systems to headquarters activities (i.e. PMS 312, TYCOM, NAVSEA) involved in aircraft carrier maintenance.

  • Conduct analysis of ship systems to determine maintenance effectiveness and cost trends for availabilities using data obtained from corporate databases.

  • Conduct analysis of ship maintenance availabilities (shipyard repair periods) to determine the cost of conditional maintenance.

  • Conduct ship system data collection, screening and submittal of Class Maintenance Plan coded items for Navy Fleet Maintenance Effectiveness Review (MER) conferences.

  • Assist with development of maintenance strategies that incorporate Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) criteria.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least three years of complex database management/analysis experience that demonstrates analytical and mathematical skills, knowledge of database types and use, and familiarity with data warehousing and data manipulation.

  • Well versed in MS Office, with expertise in MS Excel and MS Access.

  • Other experience pertinent to the position that will distinguish a candidate (desired but not required):

  1. Ship wide knowledge of aircraft carrier systems (nomenclature, configuration, and principles of operation).

  2. Working knowledge of the 3-M system.

  3. Understanding of Navy maintenance concepts such as Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and the Class Maintenance Plan (CMP).

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor (BA/BS) degree in information technology, computer science, mathematics/statistics, or a related field. (desired)

SECURITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • US citizenship

  • Secret clearance (at time of application).
