Southern Ohio Medical Center CIS Systems Specialist in Portsmouth, Ohio
The CIS Systems Specialist reports to the Manager of Clinical Systems Specialist. The primary job function is to serve as the system administrator for the EHR system. Provides day-to-day operations and maintenance, maximizes computer system capabilities by studying technical applications, and makes recommendations for optimal system functionality. Performs other duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or successful completion of an equivalent High School Exam Required
Associate's Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science, or equivalent experience required
One year previous office experience working with computerized data bases required.
Very good verbal and written communication skills are required.
Essential Technical/Motor Skills:
Must have the ability to use all relevant office equipment. Must be familiar with and have the ability to effectively use mainframe computer terminals, personal and laptop computers, software, dot matrix and laser printers.
Essential Physical Requirements:
Stands and walks one-four hours/day. Sits five-eight hours/day. Occasionally lifts 20 pounds.
Essential Mental Requirements:
Constant contact with managers, physicians/providers, other SOMC departments, and staff. Works under supervision only occasionally and most of the time works without the assistance of other personnel. Requires the ability to frequently cope with deadlines, adjust to irregular schedules and constantly pay keen attention to detail. High level analytical skills required.

Requires good vision and the ability to hear and speak clearly.
Exposure to Hazards:
Normal office environment with constant exposure to noise.

Educates Physicians, NP’s, PA’s, Management Team, clinical staff and colleagues on policies and procedures pertaining to the electronic health systems.
Collaborates with Physician Leaders, Executive and Management teams enhance use of current electronic health record systems.
Provides coverage by phone with remote computer access minimum of 1:3 evenings and weekends.
