Southern Ohio Medical Center Athletic Trainer Tech in Portsmouth, Ohio

  • GENERAL SUMMARY

  • Works under the supervision of the Lead Athletic Trainer and Manager of Performance Training. The Athletic Trainer Tech's primary job function is to provide assistance in assigned provider offices under the supervision of a physician or his/her designee. The Athletic Trainer Tech will work closely and coordinate with the assigned team.

  • QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education:

  • High School Diploma/GED required

  • Enrolled in athletic trainer program or successful completion of an approved four year NATA degree program in Athletic Training or equivalent field

  • Licensure:

  • BLS within 60 days of hire required

  • Experience:

  • None

  • Interpersonal Skills:

  • Ability to communicate clearly using both written and spoken methods and demonstrate a professional image/attitude for patients, families, clients, coworkers and others.

  • Essential Technical/Motor Skills:

  • Ability to demonstrate and use medical equipment, fitness related equipment and athletic training equipment and supplies.

  • Essential Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to use all exercise equipment in fitness area and lift 45 to 60 pounds occasionally.

  • Essential Mental Requirements:

  • Analytical skills necessary for continuous public contact.

  • Essential Sensory Requirements:

  • Ability to see, hear, and speak clearly is required.

  • Exposure to Hazards:

  • Constant exposure to dust, odors, noise, and moving machinery.

  • JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

  • Assists providers in back office duties, including rooming patients, taking vital signs, patient history and assists with minor procedures.

  • Communicates and demonstrates a professional image/attitude for patients, families, clients, coworkers and others.

  • Adheres to policies and practices applicable for SOMC and professional organizations.

  • Provides patient and family education on tasks and resources that will assist with continued functional independence.

  • Collaborates with the physical therapist and the provider on delivering education to patients and families.

  • Documents patient response to treatment.

  • Participates in program quality management activities.

  • Contributes to the delivery of cost effective care.

  • Conducts research on subject matter related to athletic training or sports medicine.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
