Summary of Duties The Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) Human Services Case Manager position provides support in ensuring that ODHS adheres to the intent of the federal law and state law regulating services to American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) children and families, the Indian Child Welfare Act of 1978, the Oregon Indian Child Welfare Act, and equity matters related to AI/AN peoples. The Family Coach will case manage American Indian/Alaskan Native children and families who have voluntary or involuntary involvement within DHS Child Welfare. Experience working collaboratively with tribal entities, community-based partners and culturally appropriate service providers is essential for this position. WAHONE* PURPOSE STATEMENT To recruit and retain Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) Native employees and improve the delivery of human services to Native clients, families and communities through Tribal best practices, cultural connections, relationship building, mentoring, Tribal and community engagement and awareness efforts. *We Are Here Oregon Native Employees (WAHONE) Employee Resource Group As a Family Coach-ICWA (Human Service Case Manager) you will: \' Conduct interviews to determine family needs and eligibility, and complete program applications for program benefits and, if eligible, issues appropriate support. \' Engage clients in family evaluation of strengths and jointly develop a case plan and identify the steps the family will take towards self-sufficiency and meeting their basic needs. \' Monitor progress, needs, and makes necessary modifications to the case plan. \' Initiate and participate in case staffing, employment readiness, life skills training, and supports job search as needed. \' Assist with crisis and safety planning for individuals experiencing domestic violence. \' Explore alternate resources and link clients to community services and may also assist with supporting resources and services within the community. \' Your knowledge of child welfare best practices and experience working with Tribes and Tribal communities will help ensure that American Indian and Alaska Native children and families are recognized and provided with culturally responsive and appropriate services. \' In this role, you will provide technical assistance and advice to ODHS staff (alongside Oregon\'s nine federally recognized tribes) to prevent the removal of American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) children from their homes. You will work to reduce the number of AI/AN children in foster care and ensure that the agency is actively engaged in this effort. This will involve setting goals, coaching caseworkers, providing advice about placements, assessing ODHS staff decisions, and participating in Child and Family Services Reviews. \' You will serve on cases and will participate on a regular basis in local Tribal activities and promote and support the well-being of families
