General Purpose

Join the most exciting engineering group at PacifiCorp! As a Renewables electrical engineering, you’ll focus on hydroelectric power production, with an intermittent sprinkling of solar and wind. This work will take you into scenic areas of six western states. Develops engineering studies, plans, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, and performance assessments associated with the planning, design, licensing, construction, operation, and maintenance of the company’s generation, transmission, distribution, telecommunication, or other utility facilities/systems. Maintain, upgrade, and new development for Renewables generation.

The work is fast paced, varied, challenging, and rewarding. Areas of work may include arc flash analysis, automation, battery testing, breakers, bushings, control systems, dissolved gas analysis, excitation, generators (rewinding, modeling, testing, cleaning, painting), governors, load centers, motors (control, protection, replacement, sizing), NERC PRC & MOD, project management (appropriations requests, forecasting, accruing, requisitioning, contract scope authoring, contract management, installation coordination, field commissioning), protective relays (protection, control, coordination, bus generators, transformers, feeders), power factor testing, programmable logic controllers, SCADA, switchgear, transformers(testing, requisitioning, removing/installing, monitoring), variable frequency drives.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Engineer II position include:

• Analyze the system design, programming, and modification.

• Develop studies of limited scope and prepare data for cost estimations and analyses.

• Run equipment and performance tests and install and inspect new equipment.

• Conduct site inspections to ensure adherence to engineering standards.

• Design, develop, modify, and evaluate systems, process, or facilities to support Company objectives.

• Develop moderately complex electrical engineering studies, plans, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, and performance assessments.

• Determine methods and techniques for obtaining results.

• Guide and direct associate level engineers, technicians and drafters.

• Recommend alternative solutions to management in area of specialty on engineering solutions to meet business needs.

• Deliver on commitments and manage outside engineering services to accomplish the assigned work.

• Analyze and design engineering methods.

In addition, the responsibilities of the Senior Engineer position are:

• Act as a lead/expert in the work group; train and mentor associate and career level engineers, technicians and drafters.

• Maintain project timelines and budgets.

• Act as a lead/expert in the work group; train and mentor associate and career level engineers, technicians and drafters.

In addition, the responsibilities of the Senior II Engineer position are:

• Develop highly complex engineering studies, plans, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, and performance assessments.

Requirements

The requirements for the Engineer II include

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited college/university.

• A minimum of two or more years of directly related experience in the applicable engineering field.

• Basic knowledge and application of principles in area of engineering specialty.

• Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations (if required for the position).

• Ability to interact favorably with project and work teams.

• Communication and interpersonal skills involving the ability to work cross-functionally to understand requirements, present alternatives, and recommendations.

• Proficient with the use of personal computers and automated tools.

• A minimum of two or more years of directly related experience in the applicable engineering field.

• Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure situations while maintaining focus and calmness.

• Ability to provide timely assessments with limited information and/or assumptions.

In addition, the requirements for the Senior Engineer include:

• A minimum of five or more years’ experience in industrial power systems or electric utility power systems, or related professional experience.

• Project management and leadership skills including the ability to work as a team member, to maintain project timelines, budgets, and deliver on commitments.

In addition, the requirements for the Senior II Engineer include:

• Advanced technical degree or professional engineer (PE) license required or 8 years of directly applicable engineering experience required.

• Demonstrated knowledge and application of principles in area of engineering specialty.

Hiring Range: $87,600-$124,300

This position is eligible for an annual discretionary performance incentive bonus of up to 12.00% of salary. Bonus eligible depending on grade level, base salary, and performance.
