Job Title: Data Assistant

Job Summary:

The Data Assistant will support the Research & Development team in gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data to drive business decisions. This role involves assisting with data collection, preparing reports, monitoring processes and recommending enhancements, and maintaining data systems to ensure accurate and efficient data handling.

Duties and responsibilities

Data Collection and Processing

  • Assist in the collection, cleaning, and processing of large data sets from various sources.

  • Support departments with data cleaning and preparation in Smartsheet and Excel.

  • Manual entry and data cleaning for existing data tables with minimal errors.

  • Transform and export data from one source to another with minimal errors.

Data Analysis and Reporting

  • Conduct data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights that drive business strategies.

  • Interpret complex data and business metrics for relevant stakeholders.

  • Update data sources for Power BI dashboards with minimal errors.

Process Improvement and Documentation

  • Collaborate with the R&D team to gather business requirements and translate them into data solutions.

  • Document business processes for current and future reference.

  • Monitor the efficacy of updated workflows.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify process improvement opportunities and develop implementation plans.

  • Provide support in formatting processes in Lucidchart, ensuring adherence to standard format guidelines.

  • Perform periodic reviews and improvements of documented workflows

Software and Tools Support

  • Assist with Smartsheet and Excel inquiries including advanced formulas, data validation, data formatting, and data cleaning.

  • Support BIM with software implementation, including running tests, creating user documentation, and providing support to users.

  • Collaborate with various departments and IT to research software implementation.

  • Conduct software research and compare platforms to other alternatives for evaluation.

Training and Support

  • Assist in training and supporting end-users on BI tools and reports.

Continuous Learning and Development

  • Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in data analytics and BI.

  • Collaborate with the team to design data maps for new projects.

  • Help troubleshoot new solutions as projects grow, such as updates to data maps or creating scalable solutions.

Qualifications include:

  • BSC/BA in Business Administration or related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.

  • Strong knowledge of MS Office 365 Suite.

  • Ability to gather and interpret data from various sources.

  • Strong problem-solving skills required.

  • Experience with BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Outstanding communication and customer service skills.

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.

Working Conditions:

Office-based. Monday – Friday during normal business hours.

The Data Assistant is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
