VCA Animal Hospitals Certified Veterinary Technician in Portland, Oregon

Responsibilities:

  • Assist veterinarians in diagnosing and treating animals for various medical conditions.

  • Perform various medical procedures such as vaccinations, dental cleanings, and surgical assistance.

  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian.

  • Conduct laboratory tests and analyze results to aid in the diagnosis of illnesses.

  • Monitor anesthesia during surgeries and assist in recovery procedures.

  • Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and medication administration.

  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records for all patients.

  • Provide compassionate and gentle handling of animals to minimize stress and ensure their well-being.

  • Assist in the maintenance of veterinary equipment and supplies.

  • Collaborate with the veterinary team to ensure the highest standards of patient care and customer service.

  • Participate in continuing education and training to stay updated on the latest advancements in veterinary medicine.

Schedule: Full-time opportunity. Flexible scheduling. Typically, 4/10’s with rotating weekends.

Compensation: The pay range for this position is $25 – 30 / hour. Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials.

Qualifications:

  • Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, RVT) or sitting for the VTNE.

  • Excellent communication skills with a passion for client education.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

  • Flexibility to adapt to the dynamic nature of veterinary medicine.

We have been serving the Laurelhurst community and surrounding area for many years. We are a fast-paced, modern, paperless hospital that provides wellness and preventative care, advanced nursing care, digital radiology, ultrasonography, surgery, dentistry, hospitalization, client education and much more. We are a supportive team dedicated to providing the highest level of patient and client care.
