Oregon Health & Science University Center for Mental Health Innovation Manager in Portland, Oregon

The OHSU Center for Mental Health Innovation (CMHI), a philanthropically-funded Center under the directorship of Drs. Bonnie Nagel and Joel Nigg, has an opening for a motivated Center manager. The Center engages clinical and translational scientists in multiple areas of developmental psychopathology research, including developmental origins of mental health (maternal and infant), adolescent behavioral risk, ADHD, depression/suicide risk, and addiction, as well as uses multiple methodologies including genetics, epigenetics, neuroimaging, neuropsychology and computational methods, and advanced analytics for prediction science. Numbers scientific collaborators participate from within OHSU and around the nation and the world. Clinical trials using novel treatments are underway, with the hope of ultimately moving toward implementation science. The Center manager will be responsible for overseeing the hiring, onboarding, and evaluation of Center staff and volunteers, organizing Center meetings and events including center investigator meetings, advisory committee meetings, visiting faculty lectures, and other events; managing and updating the webpage, preparing written progress documents/slide decks for stakeholders, interacting with the University Foundation around public and internal communications, and ongoing philanthropic efforts, and assisting with meetings with potential donors.

In addition, they will interact with University information technology group (ITG) to maintain Center computational infrastructure and Center web presence, as well as work with the Advanced Imaging Research Center, the Advanced Computing Center, Oregon Center for Clinical and Translational Research, and the Integrated Genoics Laboratory regarding their support services for the Center. The incumbent will assist with coordination and oversight of a Center data analytic core, ensure appropriate regulatory procedures are followed, including adhering to university IRB and Federal data sharing and privacy mandates. The incumbent will assist with administrative-related tasks across the Center, including budgetary oversight in conjunction with Drs. Nagel and Nigg, Center strategy and prioritization, and database management. The incumbent will also be a point of contact for Center questions and will utilize knowledge of research administration to oversee the Center research functions, including implementation of administrative policies and procedures. The incumbent will oversee the Center research strategic plan and implement realistic and efficient strategies to reach its specific goals.

Overall, the Center Manager will promote the mission of the CMHI by exhibiting reliability, productivity, professionalism, accuracy, timeliness, problem-solving, strong ethical and inclusive understanding of our innovative mental health focus, as well as compassion and kindness when communicating with research participants, volunteers, outside organizations and stakeholders, and OHSU faculty and staff.

  • Center personnel oversight, including hiring, onboarding, and general training of Center staff, including performance management procedures.

  • Assist with coordination and oversight of a Center data analytic core, ensure appropriate regulatory procedures are followed, including adhering to university IRB and Federal data sharing and privacy mandates.

  • Oversight and management of Center budget ($14mil) in collaboration with Center Directors.

  • Assist with the development and oversight of Center communications to stakeholders. Develop and distribute Center progress reports, meeting agendas/minutes. Oversee and generate content for Center website utilizing OHSU Communciations procedures.

  • Oversight and contribution to other task necessary for the implementation of the Center strategic plan and goals.

Education:

  • Master's degree in relevant field AND 3 year of relevant experience OR

  • Equivalent combination of Bachelor's in relevant field in conjunction with training and experience may be considered.

Experience:

  • 3 years of relevant experience with advanced degree

Job Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Competencies):

  • The position requires sufficient computer knowledge to interface with a variety of database, statistical, and survey software.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Effectiveness in organizing tasks and setting priorities, multi-tasking, working efficiently with minimum oversight, interacting constructively with faculty and staff, and the ability to be adaptable, creative, and a quick learner are all necessary.

  • Preference given to candidates with degrees in health-relevant areas.

  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience working in a Research Center Environment. Project coordination/management experience is desired.
