Job Description

Summary/objective

Build and maintain plastic injection molds and components from detailed prints and sketches

Essential functions

  • Able to proficiently use all machine shop equipment with extreme accuracy.

  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and sketches.

  • Must be familiar with metallurgy and heat treatment of steel.

  • Able to lay out and make best use of materials and time to efficiently complete job assignments.

  • Able to work with Production and Engineering and interpret needs to enable improved designs and processes.

  • Able to use all precision measuring instruments.

  • Must be familiar with the construction and workings of all types of Plastic injection molds.

  • Must be proficient at trouble shooting and analyzing mold problems.

  • Must be able to make accurate sketches of existing components.

  • Must document and maintain mold history logs.

Competencies

  • Proficient in manual machining techniques and CNC programming.

  • Strong knowledge of metallurgy, materials, and heat treatment processes.

  • Attention to detail and precision in all aspects of tool and mold making.

  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Supervisory responsibilities

  • N/A

Required education and experience

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • 8 years of tool/mold maker experience.

Preferred Education and experience

  • Vocational School or Apprentice program a plus.

Physical demands & Travel required

  • Medium

  • No travel required.

Pay Details: $30.00 to $32.00 per hour
