St. Charles is renowned for its outstanding customer service and scored as one of the top hospitals on Long Island in the delivery of high quality care Job Details The Senior Environmental Services Aide Provides cleaning, floor care, moving, grounds and project services as directed by supervisor. Responsibilities: Demonstrates knowledge of department policies and procedures. Demonstrates knowledge and efficient use of cleaning techniques, solutions, equipment and tools. Complies with Universal Precautions Clean up of room between surgical procedures Understands the concept of clean to clean. Understands the concept of dirty to dirty. Cleans according to accepted policy and procedure Cleans all horizontal surfaces prior to the start of surgery. Cleans all horizontal surfaces between surgical procedures. Understands the concept of cleaning top to bottom. Cleans all high tech surfaces. Assembles, cleans and organizes equipment for ORs. Assist in maintaining a safe environment for patients and employees. Performs any other duties deemed necessary in a timely and efficient manner. Performs related services, such as bed moves, changing mattresses, stocking supplies, etc. Interacts hospitably, cheerfully and supportively with staff, patients, visitors and work colleagues. Maintains equipment, tools and storage areas in clean, orderly and good operating condition. Respects Hospital and Company property. Responds rapidly and thoroughly to emergencies, special needs, spills, etc. Accepts suggestions and direction from supervisors and Hospital staff. Honors department’s attendance, break, behavior, dress and safety codes. Accepts and absorbs Department and Hospital education program. Exercises good judgment while working around patients and visitors. Remains professional at all times. Organizes the hallways to ensure nothing is blocking the electrical or gas panels. Takes initiative in rendering service or responding to needs. Assists other employees as necessary. Responds to direction as provided. Transports patients. Picks up and/or delivers the particulars from Pharmacy, Blood Bank, Morgue runs, Wound Vac. Knowledge of surgery names and the type of surgery before setup. Demonstrates knowledge of all OR equipment and machinery, including bed. Ensures every bed and stretcher has oxygen for when the patients wake up from anesthesia. Positions patients onto bed and understands how they should be positioned. Moves patients off OR beds on to stretchers when cases are finished. Walks parents of pediatric patients from the OR to the waiting room. Moves and positions incapable and/or parlayed patients in PACU and ASU. Moves and troubleshoots machines and equipment when broken including changing CO2 tanks on towers and other machineries when they run out. Orders and stocks supplies including oxygen and CO2 tanks, as well as formalin. Cuts foam egg crates for procedures. Changes sharps, hazardous and non-hazardous containers. Responds to overhead call and directly works with nurses, techs and doctors. Deals with equipment shortage, distributing it accordingly throughout the day. Ensures equipment and supplies are 18 inches away from the ceiling Changes smoke evacuators Requirements: High School Diploma, GED or relevant experience required Must be detail oriented with excellent customer service skills One to two years of housekeeping or service worker experience is preferred Must be available to work every other weekend Ability to walk or stand for prolonged periods. Requires bending, stooping, reaching up, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Exposure to chemicals on a constant basis requiring special clothing or safety equipment Salary Range USD $23.00 - USD $26.00 /Hr. This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
