Savage is looking for an experienced Shift Supervisor who will perform daily rounds, monitor employee status and performance, conduct unit audits, issue permits, attend customer meetings, and monitor coke cutting, bridge crane, and coke pit activities.
The successful candidate must be team-oriented, have strong interpersonal skills, and have a passion for detail to ensure the handling of coke in our customers' facility.

Here is what you will be doing
Ensure all employees follow proper safety rules and operating procedures
Conduct daily audits of the overhead bridge crane and DCU
Issue frequent work orders to ensure the system is properly maintained
Coordinate communications with third parties involved
Respond to any unsafe or out-of-place event or condition immediately
Complete and file all necessary documentation as required including JHA’s, SHAPS, permits, log entries, safety meetings, audit sheets, daily check sheets
Assist in training of employees
Conduct and document frequent Safety and toolbox meetings
Maintain company objectives and expectations in the absence of the Operations Manager
Work closely with Total Operations to keep production levels high, systems
Requirements of a Successful Operations Supervisor
In-person interviews require the candidate to be clean-shaven, with no exceptions
Extensive knowledge of cranes, coke units, and heavy equipment
Experience in bulk materials, conveyor systems, and heavy equipment
Experience interacting with an hourly, salary, and client-based workforce
Proven ability to focus on details, follow work rules, and adhere to work schedules
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the Company and its insurers
Experience with OSHA guidelines, policies, and procedures
High School Diploma required
Excellent communication skills – both oral and written and organizational skills
Efficient with standard office software programs (SAP, Word, Excel, Outlook, Managers Plus)
Must be able to multi-task and set priorities
Ability to manage confidential issues
Here are some of the physical requirements for this role
Must have the ability to perform the essential physical functions of the position:
Work in coal dust, hazardous noise, confined spaces, and extreme temperatures
Climb stairs and ladders, and walk up to 3 miles on uneven ground
Ability to wear required PPE, and pass a respirator fit and pulmonary function test annually
Frequently lift up to 50 pounds
