Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a Mechanical Design Lead in the Pontiac, Michigan area. The Lead is going to be responsible for presenting design concepts in BIW and welding fixtures (closures, hood, lift gates, underbody, body sides, and framing) for customer approvals. They will need to get all design deliverables completed including; check lists, drawing packages, approval documents. They will be dealing with external design sources to guide them and ensure that all designs are finished on time and to the specifications needed. This candidate will need excellent communication skills as 90% of communication will be external working closely with global sister companies. The objective will be to ensure performance of the design and simulation processes of the allocated orders on the basis of the customer and project specifications for production lines to be assembled, installed, and for the commissioning process to begin. They will be responsible for:

* Acting as main point of contact for design team

* Discussing the order with the Designers (internal and external)

* Developing draft designs using a 2D and 3D CAD system

* Technical analysis of, reporting on a discussion of the designs created.

* Checking the designs in terms of costs and engineering

* Resolving and deciding on design and production problems during assembly at the customer, at production site and at suppliers.

* Responsible for total package oof drawings (2D+3D) and standard spare part lists.

Percentage Breakdown:

50% - Leading the design teams

20% - Presenting to customers

30% - Managing documentation and deliverables

• tooling and equipment design

- Teamcenter, NX, Catia

- Customer or supplier interfacing - Teamcenter experience

- 10-20 years of experience -- someone that wants to have a long career with VDL

- Familiar with the technology and pick things up super quickly null
