Erae AMS USA Controls Engineer in Pontiac, Michigan

We are looking for a Controls Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that assembly line(s) and test equipment(s) run in the most efficient manner and troubleshoot equipment as needed.  The control engineer is expected to update electrical, pneumatic drawings, hydraulic drawings, and PLC & HMI program to maintain processes that help plant increase productivity.  The goal is to ensure that the plant is running smoothly and efficiently while meeting quality and safety standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Utilize your background in Electrical Hardware, Automation Systems, robotic handling, and Process Control Systems. Specifically, a high level of proficiency in Mitsubishi and AB PLC, Mitsubishi Servo systems, Proface HMI, OACIS servo system, vision systems and Ethernet communications.
  2. Support the planning, prioritizing, and reviewing the technical plans for engineering/maintenance of the production and facility equipment including the preparation of project plans, schedules, budgets, and proposals.
  3. Troubleshoot equipment panel, hardware, software, vision systems, robot handling and processes with maintenance team.
  4. Identify problems and implement cost effective solutions.
  5. Maintain safety and quality standards per company rules.
  6. Design and implement error proofing systems to maintain part quality requirements.
  7. Design and implement safety controls per machine safety standards.
  8. Understanding of electrical and safety codes applicable to manufacturing.
  9. Plan preventive maintenance and support maintenance team TPM initiatives.
  10. Update electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic drawings in AutoCAD as needed.
  11. Provides instruction in operation, set-up, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and ensure work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures.
  12. Prepare system integration plans, system specification, system architecture drawings, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, equipment tag list, configurations, HMI screens, and a bill of materials.
  13. Provide on-site technical support during startup and commissioning of new installations.
  14. Other duties as assigned.

     

Education

  1. Bachelor's degree in EE, ECE or Computer Science is preferred; Or equal skills, training and experience.

Required Experience

  1. Proficient in Software Development - PLC programming, IO Configuration, SCADA/HMI programming and computer communication systems and network protocols -- Ethernet.
  2. Prefer 3+ years' experience in PLC/HMI programming
  3. Mitsubishi PLC program (GX-Works or GX-Developer) preferred. LS Master-K will be plus, but not necessary.
  4. Proface HMI program (GP Pro-EX).
  5. Prefer 3+ years' experience in vision system support.
  6. Prefer 3+ years' experience in robot automation.
  7. Integration & debugging of automation systems.
  8. Basic experience in AutoCAD.
  9. Capable of programming various types of HMI platforms.
  10. Working knowledge of multiple PLC platforms.
  11. Exceptional troubleshooting skills.
  12. Excellent organizational and communication/people skills.
  13. Self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision.
  14. Strong verbal and written.

  • Repetitive movement of hands and fingers- typing and or writing
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
