The Opportunity

The position of Sr. Bioconjugation Chemist is within our Toxicology business unit located in Pomona, California. This position is responsible for technical manufacturing operations and performing laboratory analytical tasks. The Chemist will support both Technical Operations (Manufacturing) and/or Design Development as required. This position is a key member within the Bioconjugation Chemistry Laboratory.

What You’ll Work On

  • Drug enzyme conjugation for Design Development of HEIA and / or ELISA products including preparation of buffers

  • Conjugation of small molecules to enzymes and proteins for ELISA, HEIA, SEFRIA and other products

  • Drug protein conjugation for lateral flow platform

  • Performs manufacturing of the ELISA and HEIA diagnostic kits

  • Assists in transfer and qualification of analytical methods, including assay execution and final report writing

  • Complies with SOP’s

  • Analyzes and maintains data per applicable SOP’s

  • Documents activities in a cGMP manner

  • Performs investigation and resolution of out-of-spec events

  • Prepares reagents and solutions as necessary to conduct analyses

  • Performs routine maintenance of equipment

  • Performs daily temperature monitoring

  • Maintains effectiveness of the Quality System

  • Demonstrates commitment to the development, implementation and effectiveness of the Quality Management System per ISO, FDA, and other regulatory agencies.

  • Understands and is aware of the quality consequences which may occur from the improper performance of their specific job; has awareness of device defects that may occur in their area of responsibility, including product design, verification and validation, manufacturing and testing activities

  • Responsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal/external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the company’s policies and practices; build productive internal/external working relationships

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum B.S. in Chemistry/Biochemistry with 5-8 years of experience in a laboratory environment OR M.S. in Chemistry/Biochemistry with 4+ years of experience in a laboratory environment.

  • Ability to functionally direct and train junior research staff

  • Ability to work well with global teams, including time-zone flexibility

  • Excellent presentation, oral and written communication skills, computer skills with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, JMP, and other statistical programs

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in Chemistry or Biochemistry

  • Previous work experience in a chemical diagnostics laboratory position in industry role

  • Previous work experience in a cGMP environment

The base pay for this position is $95,500.00 – $190,900.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
