Work involves renovation, restoration, alteration, making inspections, adjustments, installations, maintaining and repairing buildings, utility systems, and stationary equipment, dependent on the trade and operating motorized equipment, requisitioning material and supplies; and maintaining records. Process paperwork related to work orders, projects and material requisitions.Essential Job FunctionsAttends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned. May serve in an on-call status on a rotating schedule as required to meet operational needs of the facility.Performs inspections, adjustments, maintenance and repair work in accordance with recognized codes and standards on building systems for various trades such as plumbing, HVAC, welding, carpentry, painting and electrical, to ensure proper maintenance and repair. Demonstrates the use of hand tools and/or equipment while performing repairs or inspections. Evaluates work to be performed and determines the best method for performing maintenance and repair work. Performs repairs and renovations to modernize a building, building system or adapt it to new uses. Designs projects to conform to applicable codes and standards. Identifies necessary information such as time and physical location. Identifies necessary materials and assembly details. Ensures that the necessary tools and manpower are available to perform the work. Makes in-process inspections to ensure the job is being done properly. Selects appropriate material to replace and repair building or building systems.
