Summary This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies through the Defense industrial Base (DIB). Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Responsibilities You will prepare containers with appropriate blocking, bracing for shipment of both general cargo and hazardous materials You will be required to fabricate shipping containers to military specifications, for all materials including hazardous materials. You will construct a full range of standard and nonstandard containers requiring complex bracing You will use a variety of hand tools, machinery and mechanized equipment while performing duties associated with this position such as wood working machinery, radial arm saws, band saws, drill presses, generators, drills, screw/nail guns, and more. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: The ability to perform the full range of tasks, under limited supervision, as demonstrated by experience including planning, constructing and repairing custom and standardized shipping and storage containers of various shapes and sizes; documenting shipping and storage of materials; packing materials, including HAZMAT, and equipment using appropriate wrapping, padding, and cushioning materials; performing the blocking and bracing of materials; making and placing supports to prevent shifting during transit or storage; securing items for transport; using hand tools and handheld power tools; measure cuts of lumber for nonstandard, skidded, trussed, or sheathed containers; operate a forklift capable of lifting loads weighing less than 25,000 pounds. Several vacancies may be filled. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any of the scheduled appointments. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
