ITD has one opening for an Engineer Manager I for our District 5 Maintenance Engineer located in Pocatello, ID. These positions will plan, organize, and review maintenance staff, projects and engineering work; perform professional engineering and related administrative work involving the maintenance and operation of highways, and related activities; and perform related work.

This position may involve some travel with overnight stays. This position may be rotated with the Design Construction Engineer or Materials Manager position.

Example of Duties

  • Interviews and hires staff, assigns work, and evaluates performance

  • Conducts professional engineering work involving conventional practices, but may also involve a variety of complex features such as: conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult project coordination requirements

    Minimum Qualifications

    Licensure:

  • Licensed in Idaho as a Professional Engineer (PE); or be eligible for comity licensure by the Idaho Board of Professional Engineers in accordance with Idaho Code, Title 54, Chapter 12;

  • AND Valid driver's license.

Good knowledge of state and local government operations pertaining to a specific engineering discipline.

Level I knowledge of management practices.

Experience:

  • Supervising staff

  • Interpreting and applying federal, state, and local laws pertaining to a specific engineering discipline

  • Evaluating engineering projects and making decisions relative to their merit

  • Writing engineering reports and correspondence

  • Reviewing and critiquing engineering analyses

  • Making oral presentations to groups relative to the merits of engineering applications

  • Experience scoping, scheduling, and budgeting project
