ITD has one opening for an Engineer Manager I for our District 5 Maintenance Engineer located in Pocatello, ID. These positions will plan, organize, and review maintenance staff, projects and engineering work; perform professional engineering and related administrative work involving the maintenance and operation of highways, and related activities; and perform related work.
This position may involve some travel with overnight stays. This position may be rotated with the Design Construction Engineer or Materials Manager position.
Example of Duties
Interviews and hires staff, assigns work, and evaluates performance
Conducts professional engineering work involving conventional practices, but may also involve a variety of complex features such as: conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult project coordination requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Licensure:
Licensed in Idaho as a Professional Engineer (PE); or be eligible for comity licensure by the Idaho Board of Professional Engineers in accordance with Idaho Code, Title 54, Chapter 12;
AND Valid driver's license.
Good knowledge of state and local government operations pertaining to a specific engineering discipline.
Level I knowledge of management practices.
Experience:
Supervising staff
Interpreting and applying federal, state, and local laws pertaining to a specific engineering discipline
Evaluating engineering projects and making decisions relative to their merit
Writing engineering reports and correspondence
Reviewing and critiquing engineering analyses
Making oral presentations to groups relative to the merits of engineering applications
Experience scoping, scheduling, and budgeting project
