Reporting to the Sr Director of Product Integrity, the Sr. Reliability Engineer acts as a "Design/Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (DFMEA) Process Expert" covering HVAC systems and components in the Product Integrity Department on behalf of Daikin Applied America (DAA). The Sr. Reliability Engineer will develop, document, train, implement and promote processes that deliver clear and actionable product life projections. Under general direction, you will this engineer serve as the DAA subject matter expert on the interpretation of applicable external standards and acts as the DAA technical representative at the applicable technical body. A Day in the Life: (Essential duties and responsibilities) Implement plans to develop, document, train implement and promote processes for robust component and system life projections. Communicate a clear understanding of state-of-the-art processes and tools associated with system life assessment and reliability. Network within DAA functional areas to glean the company needs and opportunities with system life assessment and reliability. Work with internal product teams, including product managers, engineers, and supply chain to document and educate DAA personnel on processes of system life assessment and reliability. Participate in effective application of engineering excellence processes and techniques to ensure product life, compliance, timely delivery and forecast cost objectives. Train others to do the same. Participate in product maintenance and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) non-conformance analysis as a subject matter expert in life cycle assessment. Train others to do the same. Provide project technical leadership by coordinating cross functional teams through the defined steps of product change management. Lead investigations or audits covering product compliance, risk assessment, risk mitigation, root cause investigation, remediation, and permanent corrective action. Provide expert support, engineering coordination and counsel to DAA Legal in support of litigation action, including providing testimony and verifying written discovery responses for DAA as needed. Participation in the succession planning process and active mentoring of potential successors is an accountably of this role. Other duties as assigned. What you will Bring: Minimum Educational Requirements Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET program or equivalent. Demonstrated continuing education accomplishments. Preferred Education Requirements Professional license(s) or applicable certification(s) Advanced degree(s) in engineering or advance degree(s) in business. Minimum Experience 10+ years' experience with system life analysis. Success in product compliance to commercial or industrial standards & regulations. Broad understand ng of business practices. Demonstrated ability to collaborate across functional areas and project partners. Track record of on time delivery. Preferred Experience Experience with commercial and/ or industrial products verses consumer products. Experience as a subject matter expert in a matrix environment. Experience working with multiple sites. 5+ years leading a team of product engineers or matrixed teams. Demonstrated history of being a mentor / career coach. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Engineering fundamentals. Process mapping, authorship, implementation, and life cycle management. Product lifecycle and change management. Project planning / execution / risk assessment / mitigation Design/Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (DFMEA / PFMEA) Monti Carlo Simulation Design of Experiments Planning Weibull Analysis Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) Verification and Validation of product performance. Process knowledge of non-conformance, turnback and escape management. Excellent communication skills; written, verbal, presentation. Travel domestically and internationally 25% of the year. Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Engineering design and analysis tools such as CAD, circuit design and analysis, FEA, CFD, and FRACAS.
