Northrop Grumman is currently seeking a Source Inspector to join our Armament Business Unit with the Defense Sector team in Plymouth, MN.
Performs analyses and tests of raw materials, packaging materials, and/or finished products from manufacturing, to ensure quality standards and compliance to customer and regulatory requirements, and tolerance specifications for the chemical or physical property. Performs a variety of qualitative tests or qualitative assays on samples, and to aid in maintenance and certification of test instruments and apparatus to ensure compliance. Prepares and monitors quality statistics and reports. Reviews production records for conformance to procedures. Conducts non-conformance tests of manufactured, packaged or tested product.
Position Description:
Work in the field, as a Quality Source Inspector, under minimal or no supervision, with autonomy for independent action and decision making
Inspects purchased parts and materials for conformity to standards, specifications, and processing requirements. Inspects for proper identity and dimensions using such measuring devices as micrometers, gauges, and calipers.
Visually inspects for defects or damage such as corrosion, cracks, dents, scratches, and pits.
Verifies specifications using purchase orders, blueprints, drawing or inspection instructions, and checklists.
Makes pass/fail decisions on inspected goods.
Effectively communicate deviations and issues with the team, records the findings and works with team on quality improvement needs.
Maintains records of results. Inspections may involve compound angles or three-dimensional projections using inspection equipment such as microscopes, micrometers, telescope gauges, and other inspection tooling.
Basic Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent and minimum of 4 years’ experience, in an inspection environment performing in-process and / or incoming material inspections, or assembly, machining, mechanical inspection, electrical inspection or other equivalent experience.
Ability to interpret engineering and assembly drawings and specifications, GD&T standards and their application.
General knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools, such as Excel, Word, SharePoint.
Attention to detail and able to collaborate in a team environment
Familiarity working with ERP systems, Document Control systems
Ability to prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish the project results
Ability to make decisions which have impact on the organization's credibility, operations and services
Demonstrated ability to communicate with suppliers and internal team for win-win relationship
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in all written and verbal contexts
U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of defense (DoD) government security clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate’s degree/College Diploma in Science, Engineering or Technology (STEM) related field or equivalent a plus
Experience with inspection of larger electro-mechanical assemblies as well as electronic assembly and/or electronic inspection skills.
Knowledge of ISO9001:2015, AS9100 Rev D, AS9102
Intermediate to advanced Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T) skills.
IPC 600/610/620 Specifications and/or Certification
Salary Range: $55,100 - $91,900
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
