Daikin Applied Engineering Manager - Heat Exchangers in Plymouth, Minnesota

The Engineering Manager - Heat Exchangers will provide leadership to the Heat Exchangers Engineering group by helping to set the direction for product and/or process improvements while motivating staff to accomplish project assignments. In this role, you will be responsible for the development of staff to improve the efficiencies and capabilities of the organization and provide technical leadership for products and processes required to satisfy our internal and external customers. Location: Plymouth, MN - Onsite What you will do: Direct department activities to design new products, modify existing designs, improve production techniques, and develop test procedures Resolve problems using solutions that involve new techniques, technologies, or concepts Analyze technology trends and market demand for planning projects Manage the timely revision of drawings and bills of material, as required Confer with management, production, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products Forecast operating costs of the department and direct preparation of budget requests Advise management of new developments which may affect profit, schedule, costs, customer relations, and/or inter-departmental relations Provide direction and example for interpretation and application of company policies and procedures to the engineering activities Maintain a working knowledge of new technologies which may improve operations, and develops recommendations accordingly Maintain a working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner Drive innovation around tools and product design What's in it for you: Medical/Dental/Vision coverage, PTO, 401K match, support for community involvement and much more The ability to make an impact and shape your career with a company that is passionate about growth The support of an organization that believes it is vital to include and engage diverse people, perspectives, and ideas to achieve our best Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering Seven years of related experience Understanding of mechanical concepts such as thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, structures, materials Strong problem-solving skills in engineering and technical concepts Able to effectively communicate technical information to an audience in a presentation setting Knowledge of cross-functional groups such as Controls, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Design, Quality, etc. Strong understanding of New Product Development processes Ability to estimate work tasks and support project planning activities and translate product requirements into engineering concepts Project Management capabilities Understands business concepts and engineering's place in those processes Hands-on experience testing electro-mechanical equipment Knowledge of Lean principles Knowledge of engineering tools and analysis methods such as DOE, DFMEA, DVP&R Knowledge of vapor compression cycle Capabilities in modeling/simulation tools such as MATLAB, ANSYS, VapCyc, etc. Knowledge of systems engineering and architecture Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of FEA (Finite Element Analysis) Knowledge of ASME Section VIII, Division 1 #LI-NA1 Equal Opportunity Employment: It is the policy of Daikin Applied to provide equal employment opportunity (EEO) to all persons regardless of race, creed, color, religion, gender, gender identification, sexual orientation, age, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, genetic information, marital status, membership or activity in a local commission, or any o her characteristic protected by federal, state or local law.
